Love birds and wildlife , patch birding at garston coastal reserve to Oglet
A lovely few hours #patchbirding in the sunshine today
Highlights … Short eared owl taking it all in , skylarks singing away , flock of siskin , 2 treecreepers, drumming woodpeckers,little grebe, great -tailed grackle , a few skeins of pinkies over .

Little grebe , 2 parakeets , short eared owl brightened up a dull damp start to the day .

Little grebe was nfy on todays #patchbirding
2 buzzard , one a beautiful pale colour has been around for a while , 2 kestrel , the raven pair were busy gathering moss
2parakeet ,siskins , sparrow hawk
Teal , redshank,oystercatchers,curlew on shore .

🎵 Singin in the rain 🎵
The #patchbirding great -tailed grackle was very vocal pre roost from 4.29pm til 5.15 . I’ve only heard its call before tonight so was made up .
A few recordings attached (some a bit long sorry)
Hope they may help for a definite ID

I’ve not mentioned the #patchbirding great-tailed grackle for a couple of days 😉
Tricky to catch up with during the day as can be anywhere on industrial estate
Pre roost best anytime after 4pm at the mo in the 2 copse
Came in at 16.20 tonight was there for a good 45 mins til roost

High tide on #patchbirding
Highlight was 3 rock pipit on the cast iron jetty.
1 Dunlin, 1 turnstone , teal,redshank, curlew,shelduck ,lots of common and 1 Jack snipe .
The crows were picking off small mammals again.

Nice mixed flock of Siskin gold/green/chaffinch .

Elsewhere on #patchbirding late afternoon
Seo showed nicely , Siskin , redpoll and goldfinch flock feeding on the alder trees was lovely to see and hear , couple of stonechat , 2 kes , 2 raven , 3 bullfinch

Great views of the great tailed grackle on #patchbirding this afternoon as it flew into copse at 2.30 and then pre roost later at 4.15

After 5 hours of hard slog the Great-tailed Grackle finally gave itself up @nationaltrust.org.uk Speke Hall & later on the adj business park; great find by @birderjack.bsky.social + woodcock, siskins, repolls & bee orchid rosettes on the business park @mbblerc.bsky.social @birdguides.bsky.social

Absolutely made up to see the grackle this morning on #patchbirding ( not sure what sp but more experienced birders will know I’m sure )
It’s doing circuits of the fields at Speke hall I’ve marked in red on map .lots of happy birders there now 👍🏻

a mystery bird from tonights #patchbirding
Only managed this photo ,the bird looked all black and I couldn’t make out any features as it was dusk . I’ve attached video of the call it was making (like a clack sound) it was associating with the magpies
Anyone any ideas ? Thanks
