today was a just two enormous refactors. doesn't feel like progress, which is tough, but the app is much better for it. even the best software planning doesn't survive first contact with reality.

found an excuse to write some #rust in the end... made a handy CLI wrapping the API for admin tasks. Itch scratched.

just gave up on writing the whole thing in Rust. turns out the classic new shiny tech isn't the best bet - who knew! cargo is sick, genuinely 10x better than anything in Python, but the crate chaos is real. db is the bottleneck either way. already shipped more in 2 days than entire last 2 weeks.

never thought I'd say this, but I'm really getting into DDD right now. combine it with Claude Code + TDD + ~20 years of Python muscle memory = stupid fast velocity. scaffolding in seconds, repeatable patterns and the tests write themselves

writing an SDK for a game engine I've never used (Unity) is going to be interesting - and in C#. expect plenty of complaining about Java-esque verbosity and Microsoft tooling. at least the unity docs are decent, and stackoverflow is absolutely loaded with answers from 2019 that mostly still work
