#AVFC hopeful Ollie Watkins' early substitution on Thursday evening was just a precaution. Initial scans this morning have not detected anything serious, with Villa assessing whether he will be available to play against Brentford tomorrow. @theathleticfc.bsky.social

Pretty much Nintendo Switch (2) pilled at the moment. Haven’t touched my PS5 apart from a brief session on Marvel Cosmic Invasion with my friend @bunchofsteve.bsky.social in December. The one-two punch of Donkey Kong Banaza and Metroid Prime 4 hooked me, and now I’m back cataloging it

Nice comeback, but a mostly uninspired performance. Hope we haven’t lost Ollie and that he was taken off as a precaution

If Guessand goes to Palace (on loan), is it a balancing the books thing (I’m assuming because Bailey’s back), or because we’re looking to free up some room for another signing?

Will write more on for Friday but #AVFC are mostly manager-led in recruitment so Emery can tend to stick with what he knows when presented with options. He wanted a CM (& ST) who adapt quickly. Has good relationship with Douglas Luiz & player is very, very excited about returning

I keep seeing Villa being linked with Omar Marmoush. Where do they think we’re going to get £60m+ to sign him? Also, he just started, and scored, on the weekend. Doesn’t feel like Guardiola will be willing to let him leave

New: Youri Tielemans faces an extended period on the sidelines following an ankle injury. Will undergo further scans today to determine the precise extent but initial timeframe expects recovery to be after John McGinn. Story @theathleticfc.bsky.social #AVFC

#AVFC seriously exploring a move to sign Douglas Luiz. Club were considering midfield loan options before Youri Tielemans' injury, with Douglas Luiz discussed among intermedaries. Yet Villa's talks for 27yo have stepped up in recent days. @theathleticfc.bsky.social

There is a distinct savviness to this Villa side. This was a defensive performance so well-oiled and well-prepared. Through defensive organisation, #AVFC took away Newcastle’s best strengths and made them predictable - here is how:

Jonathan Pearce, Aston Villa are on the exact same points as Manchester City, why were we not “big winners” from today’s Arsenal result?
January 25, 2026 at 10:48 PM
I’d love a player or two through the door this week to build on today’s result, keep the positivity going. Looks like we’ll announce Tammy soon, but I’d love a midfielder to come in. I’ve seen us linked with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Douglas Luiz…

Ah man, Bayonetta 3 is disappointing after the first two. The combat feels off, with a focus on giant monsters slowly battling rather than Bayonetta’s speedy combo-based combat. The camera doesn’t stay focused on the character, you lose where you are

You’re never going to get rid of this negativity in me (it is the Villa way), but I will never get tired of this team surprising me
Villa go to Newcastle this afternoon. Can’t see us winning. We’ve a terrible record at St James’s Park, and the injuries gutting our midfield leave us weakened against a very physical side. Do your best, keep it tight, and hopefully we can come away with something
