Columbus weather update for those interested. This photo was from Columbus Reddi.

Even our bigger snowstorms are usually about half of what we got over the weekend.

It's going to be -5 to 15 degrees for about a week so nothing is going to melt. Long week ahead.

So mad, created a Wikipedia and got straight to work

We learned not long ago, that someone started a Wikipedia page for Awful Announcing (we didn't notice for a year).

A lot of our notable reporting accomplishments (Bishop Sycamore, Kevin Brown, etc) keep getting deleted and stuff like this keeps popping up.

Someone is quite triggered!

Awe damn. They got a BTN legend

It’s snowing much harder now than when this video was taken

Also who is the idiot who put their recycling out 🙋🏻‍♂️?

In the same vain, a lot of people will release fiery statements and do incendiary reaction videos on what happened today in Minneapolis and they will do so without actually having watched the video.

Social media rewards confirmation bias.
There is a viral TikTok where a creator goes OFF on a WaPo article about Audi Crooks.

I read it and found it to be smart, thoughtful, and not problematic imo. I found no other criticism of the article online.

I then saw this. The creator didn't even read the article 🤦‍♂️

I wrote about how the 12 team playoff, which we are already looking to throw out the window, is actually totally fine.

There is no magic number that is perfect. 12 is just fine!

~15 minute segment reacting to the breaking news that CFP staying at 12 teams. Most of that time was criticism aimed at ND (none of which was new) and talking up the SEC.

Honestly, it was a clusterfuck, and a lot of the CFB discussion on First Take falls into these sinkholes.
Cam Newton: "Notre Dame hasn't been relevant in years."

Shae Cornette: "They were just in the national championship game one year ago"

Everyone is saying stock up on food and supplies for the big storm, but also that grocery stores are really crowded and may not have some essentials.

This seems like a rare legitimate excuse to order a Buckeye pizza from Adriaticos.

When I was at my parents last week, there was a wall/shrine of photos of just my sister. I told my wife, it was very weird and also I didn’t have a wall.

When I got back from my trip, this was in our dining room.

Been thinking about the shift of documentaries rooted in journalism and independence to sanctioned participation entertainment that often includes compensation or control,

That shift was captured well in this 2021 article I did on Manti Te'o backing out of speaking with Don Van Natta.

The Indiana Championship is such an outlier that it's hard to really process it within the context of what we know about sports and the world at large.

Something totally unexpected that is good, that you'd never see coming, can just happen?

I don't know, seems like a scam!

Not author's fault I imagine, but loathe the growing tactic at mainstream outlets of refusing to link to external outlets for SEO reasons, even when using a quote (happens to us all the time)

@matternews.bsky.social and @andydowning33.bsky.social did the work! Don't duck them on a link @nbc4i.com!

Beyond the AI usage by Schefter and others recently, this shines a light on a larger issue...

More and more people in sports media are hiring agencies to handle their social media (or at least augment their posting)

How much of what we see is truly posted by that person?

ESPN has recently acknowledged per @frontofficesports.bsky.social, that they don't talk CFB enough.

Putting aside need for MORE, First Take really needs to have significantly BETTER CFB discussion.

It's SAS' show and controls who comes on, but it's objectively a struggle and blind spot for them.

Great win and great season by Indiana.

Oddly absolutely nobody will feel the urge to chant the name of the conference in Miami, or really anywhere.

Are you enjoying this camera angle and no commercials on the ESPN 4k feed?

ESPN says the not airing of commercials is an intentional choice.

This is a nitpick pet peeve that is directed more at how stats are recorded as most see networks do this.

The Texans defense didn’t give up 21 points today (as of now). The pick six came versus their offense. Not on them. Shouldn’t be attached statistically to the defense.

Why would you need advice from a pro bettor when Kalshi claims that their platform is definitely not sports betting!

Sports betting found this back door loophole and the amount of people walking through it and losing it all is growing quickly.

I got asked recently who is AA’s biggest competition and honestly, I’m good with all the sports media sites. We all do our thing.

More on my radar are these FB pages managed outside the US that monetize misinformation as Meta looks the other way.

It’s out of control.
