I forgot how much I love the percussion of an oak in autumn. The

whoosh

crack

swish

thump

thud

of an acorn losing its cap, hitting a leaf, bouncing off the earth and coming to rest.

I got an apple picker and have to harvest them JUST before they start falling for THIS VERY REASON!! and you KNOW I had to also throw a bunch to the squirrels angrily watching me 🤣
blackforager.bsky.social
Noooooo 😭 why would they do that??

I wouldn’t exclusively tweet (or do tweet-like things) at the airport if it wasn’t where humanity is at its worst

I love that thing where if you’re a black person of note, the second you leave a space where you’re recognized it’s just back to your regularly scheduled racism 😀

Just a lil something to take the edge off
A hand holds a common milkweed flower as if it was a cigarette

Every time I get myself hype about starting a seaweed farm, I check housing prices near ANY water from Cape Cod northward and????

What rich benefactor is out here trying to buy a loud girl a lil cabin (that for some reason is still a MILLI???) near the sea so I can grow my macroalgae in peace? 😭

I got people still on the inside and can confirm it’s real 😞

The fact that this company relied on the QUEER brains of me and so many other talented people for YEARS just to do this feels like a slap in the face tbh

My former employer paused all marketing on Pride toys and cancelled donating the proceeds to a great org because… *checks notes* … a single bigot doesn’t understand how BarkBox works? You literally have to CHOOSE and PAY MORE for the Pride toys. Happy Pride, gang 🫠

Years ago I saw @blackforager.bsky.social talking about spruce tip syrup on tiktok. Now I make it every year! 🥰
me picking spruce tips in the deep woods wearing a bug net a group of big beautiful spruce tips spruce tips in a food processor in the foreground, maple sugar being mixed in a kitchen aid in the background a pile of spruce tips and maple sugar that has been pulsed in a food processor a few times

One of the hard things about trying to grow my hair out is having it put away for the majority of my days, but tonight the fro was OUT and I MISSED HER!!

“I asked ChatGPT-“ okay well I asked the big oak tree at the center of the woods and she said you’re a lazy dork

Really don’t love chatgpt advertising all around OSU’s campus! It gives me gently sinister vibes tbh!!

@blackforager.bsky.social just finished a BRILLIANT talk that wove together racism, colonialism, the death of inherited knowledge re: the natural world, landscape snacks, and the inherent destructiveness of the #MAHA agenda in 90 min. AMAZING! Also, her #OOTD with the crop hoodie? 👌🏻

All magnolia flowers are safe eating, but the flavor varies a lot from species to species and tree to tree! They’re STRONG, but I’d give a petal a smol nibble and see how you feel about the flavor, and if you like it, collect some!! 🩷

Eliza doesn’t deal in purely native species agroforestry, and I do, and that’s ok!
I wish asking the general public to participate in citizen breeding was realistic! But until then they’re flimsy street trees that smell real bad and in my neck of the woods, they often colonize spaces they shouldn’t!

I love Eliza (we’re mutuals) but I do disagree on this particular tree! justifying a net negative to our local native flora because it acclimated well and originally had promise to help the pear industry (which isn’t why any bradford street trees were planted) doesn’t make sense from my world view
