We will now go beyond three years without a snowfall in the Blue Mountains (Blackheath) other than a dusting. Longest stretch since records began in the 1800s. It's quite easy to view snow records as data has been recorded via websites, observers and newspapers. Photos show our last fall, 24-8-22.
And even more important than calm, is the love and self nurture we carry for ourselves, even when we don't feel particularly calm. It's like holding/hugging a restless child. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’–

What a fab place to do stair runs. 1500 stairs this morning, behind Katoomba Falls kiosk. My health situation could change at any time (I'm genuinely aware of that) but for now, I'm the fittest I've been in 30 years - with the usual morning aches and pains. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Take care.๐Ÿ™
Smart TVs? Dumb TVs? Not much quality available under $500. Software issues, poor speakers etc.

I'm trialling an Acer KG272 monitor with media stick + older speakers plugged into monitor headphone. Just for fun.

My main TV is a dumb TV with media stick & external speakers.
Reports of snow showers at Shooters Hill, this afternoon. Not surprising. It got quite cold via the downdrafts of those cold air field showers.

Nothing compared to 23/11/08 when we had a fabulous settling out there and even snow showers in Blackheath. Third photo, 23/11/08.
Great. It may vary, depending on what type of contract you have, what retailer and also if its a rental or home ownership situation. โœŒ๏ธ
Wow, free electricity starting next year, for three hours a day, if smart meter is installed. Sadly, NSW has a fairly low rate of installation.

This could be a good government initiative. Get your house warm or cool in middle of day! Let's see how it works in theory... ๐Ÿ˜‰โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅโ„๏ธ
#BoM #thunderstorms #weather

No BoM Severe Thunderstorm Warnings (as of 3pm) for this storm? IMHO, I think it may at least be worth issuing a general warning...
Wild and blowy, as this next front moves in. A real gate rattler. Make sure your gates and electricity boxes are secured tonight. And, use ear plugs.

Much cooler on Tuesday. Some interesting November developments are showing up. Maybe, tablelands snow.

#BoM

The BoM is listening to community feedback on their new website. The new radar now has dBZ reflectivity as default. This is very important for the detection of severe storms. You can still choose mm/h in the layers menu. We also need a time stamp on the radar, like the original one.
#EV #environment

This may be the first EV, that I buy. BYD Atto 1. Not yet - as I don't want lithium ion batteries - due to impact on environment & liquid electrolyte (safety issues). Waiting for better battery tech. My ICE km per year, is very low. Home energy footprint very low, too. โœŒ๏ธ
The progression of the Covid beard. First time since my twenties (from memory) that I've tried to properly grow one.

And last time...

I looked like a garden gnome. ๐Ÿ™ƒ
There has been a lot of reaction to the new BoM website. Firstly, I want to say, that I recognise how much time and effort has gone into the new format. I also want to say, the new radar is well short of the mark. Radar now defaults to mm/h, not dBZ. And, intensity colours have changed. Not good. ๐Ÿ™
The new radar falls well short, IMO, as I confinue to use it. Default read out is mm per hour, not dbz, which is the original display. This changes how storms are viewed. Colours have changed, too. Also, to release the new website during a severe weather event was just incomprehensible to my mind.
I've got all the towns and names. Have you tried zooming in? Once that is done on a phone or desktop, more and more towns/cities become available.
Yes, I'm wondering how long the old site will remain.
#BoM

For those of us in Australia, what do you think of the new BoM website? It is being criticised a lot, online.

It's okay for me, so far. I'm not overly keen on the new radar animations and I had to greatly increase the tiny default text size, on my phone. I'll keep testing for another month.

#BoM #winds #weather

A fallen tree damaged a train near Zig Zag on the Blue Mountains line today. Not sure why the BoM didn't issue warnings for the Blue Mountains today? We had official gusts over 90km/r. Damaging wind for today, was also indicated as a potential problem by modelling yesterday...

No warning for damaging winds current for the Central Tablelands forecasting district? I mean this with respect but are the BoM aware of the gusts today? A peak gust of 91km/r, so far today in Blackheath (Mt Boyce AWS). At 2:13pm. ๐Ÿค”
#mindfulness #friendship

What a beautiful singing meditation.

This woman, is such a gift. Her voice, her presence, her kindness.

Social media is good, when we use it for friendship. May we all have the courage to be still. To be listeners. To ourselves. And, to each other. ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’–
#snakes #photography #bluemountains

First snake of the season, on my run, yesterday. Fairfax Walk - always see them there. A copperhead, fast asleep in the sun, right next to a bench.

No one else noticed it. I tend to scan the track as I jog.

Practising Pause,
Opens doors,
To this moment.

Mindfulness.
Kind. Fullness.
Is here.
In, this breath.

My mind, is at ease.
Rested. She sees.
This.
Bliss...
