Just in case you thought that removing DEI criteria would mean that everyone is competing equally: NIH is removing grad students from underrepresented backgrounds from the applicant pool altogether. Their applications will not be considered. Other students, not from these backgrounds, will be.

‼️ The State Department has REMOVED TQIA+ on their page of recommendations for queer travelers. This page yesterday said "LGBTQIA+" and now just says "LGB".

The federal government is trying to erase trans people from existence.

Here is an example on how I track my classes by semester, the requirements, and assignments! I put all my assignments into a sheet at the start of the semester, what matters is to build a system that works for you!

Lastly, it can be helpful to know or ponder what you want to do with the degree (i.e. research, clinical practice, etc), especially since you can do some of that stuff while in school or prepare for the next steps! Enjoy it too! Psychology especially is a fascinating subject, with so much to learn!

Every school is different, so it's okay to take your time adjusting, and no matter what anyone says, there are no dumb questions! Learning what a professor wants/expects can really help make clear what you need to succeed! Like the other comments, communicating with other classmates helps!

For psychology, often the first few classes are very broad, so be prepared for a lot of different material! It can help to map out which classes you need by semester too! If there are any mentor/advising programs, office hours for professors, or TAs, don't hesitate to reach out to them for help too!
