The skill that makes every interaction & everything else better is to be able to turn an assertion into a hypothesis. The reason is bc it clarifies the cause and effect and narrows the proof. When I hear team members say, “This is our working hypothesis…” it shows organized & disciplined thinking.

Mozilla, or someone like them, should come out with an open source model trained on actual public domain and voluntary data, to compete against OpenAI/Anthropic/Google/xAI. There is a huge prevailing sense of malaise at the concentration of power in a handful of private AI companies.

Not many artists pull of covering Townes but the Lungs version by SG Goodman gives me goosebumps in a different way the original does. Wished she'd play a Belgian show. #music

I remember seeing David Thomas and the two pale boys live twice, and each time I was slightly scared of him. What great shows!

Nowadays when you say “prolific making,” people will immediately think of GenAI. But I reflect on all the trials & errors both big and small, the daily honing of craft… Some of those things changed me. There will be fewer stories about the journey to mastery.

Styling HTML form controls is something web designers & developers have wanted for years! My team is working on a solution — apply `appearance: base` and switch to a new interoperable consistent default control. Then override it using new pseudo-elements. Placeholder text on inputs bothers me because it's one of those design things where if you ask designers to make it pass color contrast they say "No that's too dark, its just placeholder text" but then if you ask to remove it because its not important enough to be readable they say "No, its needed".

This Belgian tv series (starts at 1:13) from the ‘80 is what made me love John Carpenter. For decades I couldn’t find any info on it and even started to doubt if I made it up. Some label should reissue this indeed. #xenon www.youtube.com/watch?v=39zO...
