I paid £15 for The Devils by Joe Abercrombie on Gollancz's 40% off Black Friday Sale.

Today it's been reduced to £10 on Amazon 😐

Since moving to a house with lots of trees nearby and putting bird feeders up it's giving me such a sense of peace when I look outside and see the variety of birds and wildlife 🌲💚

I'm seeing more tits everyday than Hugh Hefner did in the '70s 🪶

Happiness comes in many forms and is sometimes wrapped up by The Broken Binding 😍

Isn't this exquisite?

It's almost certainly completely imagined, but when it's cold and frosty in the British Isles, I really feel a sense of magic in the air outdoors.

I can't really explain it. It's probably just because I associate winter with Christmas and lights etc but I love the feeling of it - feels otherworldly

It brings me so much joy that from the kitchen window in our new house, I can see birds nearly all day long.

I was lucky to see a pigeon now and again before.

Now it's blue tits, great tits, blackbirds, robins, thrushes, wrens, pigeons, magpies and squirrels. Hoping to see even more ❤️

Reaper Man is overrated; half of the book is just nonsensical.

Hogfather is hard to follow.

Death as a character is fantastic but his book series aren't as engaging as him alone...

I'm much preferring Witches and City Watch...

Heard Dan Jones is writing a book on castles. There's one I'll buy the special edition of.

Just bought his Wars of the Roses special from Broken Binding and then got an email to say I'd entered my overdraft 😅🙈

Interview done ✅

Maybe I should believe in myself more because I feel like I did really well ☺️

Now there's no preparation to be done I can fully enjoy a book in the evenings again 👌

Bluesky in comparison to X:

✅ Kinder
✅ Friendlier
✅ More supportive
✅ Less hate
✅ More book related engagement
✅ No penalty for posting links

👎 More politics
👎 More RTs on the timeline
👎 Less users

Overall, bluesky wins if I could only pick one. I feel like this is now my 'main social app'

I've scratched my cornea right on the pupil putting a bird feeder out and pinged a sharp tree branch straight into my eye.

I now can't see out of it.

I've got a massive important interview on Monday & I told myself I'd think more positively.

This is the best I can do...

I wish I wasn't like this;

Whenever I have a job interview lined up, I feel such a sense of dread for days before, even if I'm prepared. It's such bad anxiety and I don't even know why but it stops me focusing on anything, I even struggle to focus on the interview prep itself.

There's an owl outside somewhere nearby but I don't know where.

I've always wanted to see a wild owl and a wild woodpecker but it's never happened.

It's hooting as it to say "you will never find me even though I'm loud as fuck"

Wyrd Sisters is my current car listen and Indira Varma is an absolutely fantastic voice actor 👌

This is my favourite Discworld so far and gives me renewed optimism that I will love some of the series afterall ...

As the creator of #Norsevember, I wish you a pleasant time of year and hope you're finding time to celebrate Northern myths, history, influences, traditions and stories.

Magic and myth arrives with the onset of the cold. ❄️

Hoping to have a bit of content over the month.

I find it fascinating how we change with age.

Obviously most people mature and get wiser.

But part of my inner self would love to go on a weekend away and drink all the beer (never happens now!) and the other half of me now gets excited by garden centres and tending to the garden.
