Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has been left out of Argentina's squad for their next two World Cup qualifiers. The 37-year-old returned to Miami's starting line-up for their Major League Soccer win over Atlanta United but reportedly picked up an injury during Sunday's game. Inter later confirmed the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner has a "low-grade" injury to his adductor muscle.

Great Britain's Sonay Kartal has been knocked out in qualifying for the Miami Open a week after reaching the last 16 at Indian Wells. Kartal impressed in California, ousting top-20 player Beatriz Haddad Maia en route to the fourth round before being beaten by world No 1 Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets. However, the 23-year-old missed out on a spot in Florida after losing 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 7-5 to America's Taylor Townsend.

Replacing one of the best coaches of all time isn’t easy, but Winnipeg Jets rookie head coach Scott Arniel has lived up to the task. After spending time as an assistant on Rick Bowness’ Jets bench, Arniel took over the big job for his second NHL head coaching role in 2024-25 and has led the team to the top of the NHL standings on 98 points with 14 games remaining.

Getty Images Boston's incoming NWSL franchise announced Friday that it will change its name, five months after it was roundly criticized for selecting Bos Nation FC as the expansion club's name. "Boston, you've waited long enough," the club wrote in a brief social media statement posted late Friday night. "We are changing our club name." The expansion team introduced the name Bos Nation FC in October, coupled with a campaign called "Too Many Balls." Not only was the actual name panned, the "Too Many Balls" campaign and catchphrase was considered transphobic by some.

Smith-Schuster, 28, played in 14 games for the Chiefs in 2024, catching 18 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns. His biggest game came against the New Orleans Saints on "Monday Night Football" in Week 5, when he caught seven passes for 130 yards.
