Except Youngkin didn't pick Miyares...in fact, Miyares was involved in Virginia politics MUCH longer than Youngkin, who just popped up in 2021 after being forced out of the Carlyle Group.

How many conversations like this one (between @leftistcaffein8rix.bsky.social and @jamellebouie.net) are going on right now in Virginia? bluevirginia.us/2025/10/with...
Molly Grace: "My wife and I can't bring ourselves to vote for him between this and the speeding charge from '22 in which he did 500 hrs of CS for his own PAC. Naturally, there's no way in hell we'd vote for Miyares, either, but we're agreed that we're abstaining from casting a vote for AG. Dems need to do better."

Jamelle Bouie: "would you rather have young liberals working in the state’s attorney general office, or would you rather have young nazis? this is basically the choice you need to make. (not choosing is a choice, btw)"

"A national group focused on electing Democrats to state legislatures is pouring more than $5 million into Virginia House races this November, according to plans shared first with POLITICO.

The extra cash, which marks the largest investment from The States Project this cycle, comes as Virginia Democrats are feeling confident about their ability to obtain a governing trifecta. They believe they can expand their narrow one-seat majority in the House and flip the governorship. Their candidate at the top of the ticket, former Rep. Abigail Spanberger, has held a wide lead in the race for months. Democrats also control the state Senate by a single seat, which is not up this cycle." - Politico

Pretty crazy that government is arguing they need the military for an active war in Portland OR, but no Corporate Media can bother to send a reporter out there to investigate the situation on the ground and show US there is no violence to justify their war against US

Exactly right by @senatorhashmi.bsky.social. Of course, if the media did its job (which it definitely doesn't), Virginia voters would widely know about John Reid's extreme, "hateful attacks"- including his "pattern of Islamophobic" ravings. bluevirginia.us/2025/10/sam-...

But there is nothing noble or respectable about what Vought is doing, about his vision for the country. He is a fully competent, utterly committed radical ideologue. He lusts for counter-revolution and radical measures. There is no line he doesn’t feel justified to cross.

Actually, the Spanberger campaign has been heavily outspending the Earle-Sears campaign on advertising.

Reporters (of course, this is Fox "News") apparently are going to ask any/every Democrat about Jay Jones, but not do the same with Republicans for all the extreme stuff said by Winsome Earle-Sears, John Reid, etc. bluevirginia.us/2025/10/thur...

"As Gov. Youngkin enters his final 100 days in office, I hope he will abide by the Code of [VA] & promptly provide this committee with the full list of all individuals appointed by his administration whose positions require confirmation." - VA Sen. @AaronRouseVA bluevirginia.us/2025/10/thur...
"Senator Aaron Rouse Statement on Oversight of Gubernatorial Appointments
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — Senator Aaron Rouse (D–Virginia Beach), Chair of the Senate Privileges and Elections Committee, issued the following statement regarding the Senate’s constitutional role in overseeing gubernatorial appointments:

“As Chair of the Senate Privileges and Elections committee, accountability and integrity guide our work, not political convenience or acquiesce to the demands of President Trump. The Senate has a constitutional duty to provide meaningful oversight of executive appointments, and we will fulfill that duty openly and deliberately. Oversight, whether a Republican or Democratic Governor, is required by law. Suggesting otherwise misrepresents both the law and the seriousness of this process.

Virginians expect transparency in government and legislative review ensures that trust is upheld. Our interpretation of state law reflects our duty to maintain clear public records and exercise the General Assembly’s authority over gubernatorial appointments. That authority will not be ceded.

As Governor Youngkin enters his final 100 days in office, I hope he will abide by the Code of Virginia and promptly provide this committee with the full list of all individuals appointed by his administration whose positions require confirmation.

We remain ready to work with the administration in good faith while protecting the integrity of the process and the trust of the people we serve.”"

Planned Parenthood of VA: Winsome Earle-Sears "Saying ‘when you are willing to kill a child up until the day that baby is born…murder is murder…one day, it’s gonna be your turn,’ is not political theater" bluevirginia.us/2025/10/audi...
PPAV Statement on Winsome Earle-Sears’s comment “it’s gonna be your turn”

RICHMOND, Va — A radio interview surfaced today where Winsome Earle-Sears peddled dangerous lies about abortion providers and perpetuated misinformation about abortion care. These statements are the most alarming and dangerous of all of the extreme anti-abortion rhetoric Sears has normalized in the past. This time, her comments illustrate the ease with which she discusses and threatens violence against people seeking abortion care and the trusted clinicians who provide it.

Jamie Lockhart, Executive Director, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia:

“We call on Winsome Earle-Sears to retract this remark and to clearly and unambiguously condemn violence in all forms. Elected leaders have a responsibility to de-escalate and to protect the safety of Virginians, not to legitimize or amplify threats that put lives and livelihoods at risk.

Saying ‘when you are willing to kill a child up until the day that baby is born…murder is murder…one day, it’s gonna be your turn,’ is not political theater. It reminds us that while the majority of Americans agree that abortion is health care, those who will stop at nothing to ban it, also will sink to any level to make it inaccessible – including invoking fear for those seeking and those providing care. Virginians deserve leaders who protect access to care.”

An ad running incessantly would cost huge $$$, of course. Which is why the fact that Miyares has more money than Jones and Jones just had to cancel a major fundraiser is...not great. So lots of pressure on Jones for next Thursday evening's AG debate!
bluevirginia.bsky.social
Take with a big grain of salt b/c it's a Republican poll, BUT having said that, the trend in this poll (from Jones +3.9 pts in September to Miyares + 2.1 pts now) isn't great for Jones. Also, Jones' net favorable is at -16.5%; not good. bluevirginia.us/2025/10/wedn... h/t @IAPolls2022
InteractivePolls reports on a new Virginia AG poll by Cygnal for the Republican AG Association: Jason Miyares 45.8%-Jay Jones 43.7%, compared to Jay Jones 46.4%-Jason Miyares 42.5% in September

The question is, why does anyone listen to that both-sides, false-equivalence, normalize-minimize-and-sanewash-right-wing-extremism crap?

It's really hard to express how bad @pbsnews.org is (same thing with @npr.org by the way): just constantly framing stories as "Trump said xyz," without noting that xyz is TOTALLY, WILDLY FALSE, just reporting it straight. Just completely irresponsible, pathetic, fear-based "journalism"...
