“Part of being a captain is knowing when to smile, make the troops happy even when it's the last thing in the world you want to do. Because they're your troops and you have to take care of them."
Malice Mizer - Illuminati; 1998. That would do it...
Maybe it’s me speaking after having grown up considerably since then, but I don’t miss this music, and it’s weird hearing it so many years later. I also think I simply have no nostalgia for the years during which I was listening to Visual Kei.
Oh that feeling when you’re listening to the radio, and suddenly, an old Malice Mizer song comes on. You get chills, you remember that you last heard this song as a teenager; you cannot recall the title, but you know it was from the Gackt era, and it wasn’t one of your favorites.
Punching Pangoro Piet. He deserves a mega evolution.
Never underestimate the power of Punching Piet Pangoro.
You’ve earned your stripes as a tinkerer when you’ve used a coin and a glasses cleaning cloth to keep pin headers in place for soldering
Is there ever a good time to be listening to 60s enka while reading about OS/2 display drivers?
Canari sucks. She really, really sucks.
Apparently, English versions will work, and can display Japanese text due to native Shift-JIS support, but it is risky due to potential system file corruption issues. Thank goodness for 86box, making it easy to test these things before deployment on a “replica” of my Socket 7 machine.
I have been looking for a mythical beast when trying to find Japanese versions of Netscape Navigator in Japanese for Win3.1. There simply were no versions after 3.01! I never knew that Netscape after 3.01 simply could not be coded for Win3.1 due to oddities with Win3.1’s system files. What a relief.
The writing in Legends Z-A is simply excellent. I haven’t laughed so hard at a Pokémon game since a juggler dropped his balls.
I hate plug and play. Good enough for Win9x, terrible for literally anything else.
It's more than a bit frustrating that digital preorders of Z-A won't go live until tomorrow, while physical copies are out today. Sounds like quite the screw you to aimed at anyone who chose to forego a physical copy.
Holy Christ, I found a Japanese version of Netscape Navigator 3.01 for Windows 3.1. Ok, maybe this adventure is looking up?
It’s rather depressing to see just how little of the Japanese internet was archived back in the 90s. Netscape Navigator for Windows 3.1 DOS/V seems to be completely extinct.
There is a lot of psychedelic rock playing on BayFM78 tonight. I love it.
I’ve never met a decent person who sports a goatee.
Spanish music on BayFM78; wasn’t expecting that.
It is a little ironic that a song called “Mayonaka no Guitar“ has almost no guitar play in it whatsoever.
Listening to bayFM78 tonight and the theme is “songs with really long names“.
Japanese radio is so attractive because it has actual shows dedicated to showcasing music with a theme, rather than just playing the top 40 with bits of banter every so often. Sure there are plenty of talk radio shows, but it is mostly themed music shows; you never know what you’ll hear each night.
I cannot hear the Goldfinger theme without mentally going “Max Power, he’s the man with the name you want to touch, but you mustn’t touch…”
I hacked my Kindle just for epub support. What a world.
