this was also my biggest bone to pick with a little life mind you. disgusting book that ended being the trauma olympics for 800 pages and all that for nothing. the worst things imaginable happening to an individual over and over to the point that u just get desensitized to it
if you have a very explicit sa scene in a movie that only exists to show the suffering of a victim and nothing else … who exactly are those scenes made for ? was that traumatic scenario truly necessary to get the point across ? how is showing me a victims most vulnerable state sharing their story ?

trauma just for the sake of trauma in media is something i will genuinely never understand the existence of. some subjects absolutely have to be talked about and addressed but there absolutely is a way to talk about them whilst being serious but also respectful
