BNMT's baseline work during IMPACT TB & TB REACH projects @stoptb.bsky.social showed high prevalence and intensity of catastrophic costs for Nepali people with TB & that simple interventions to improve access to TB diagnosis and care can significantly reduce catastrophic costs.

⚠️The findings of the National Tuberculosis Patient Costs Survey 2024 underscore the need for robust social protection measures to protect TB-affected households from financial hardship and the risk of poverty.

➡️Non-medical costs, including transportation and additional food/nutritional supplements, represented the largest share of expenses (44%).
➡️Indirect costs due to lost income were also significant, accounting for 39% of the total costs faced by TB-affected households.

📢The recently released first ever National Tuberculosis Patient Cost Survey in Nepal 2024 showed that over half (51%) of TB-affected households experienced catastrophic costs due to the disease.🗣️

Preventing TB, One Step at a Time!
As of July 2025, 100 people with latent TB have started 3HP treatment in Chitwan and Pyuthan districts under the 'Prevent TB to End TB' project funded by Rotary International and BNMT UK.

The FAST (Finding, Actively Separating, and Treating) strategy orientation was held in Palpa district of Lumbini province under the National TB project, funded by The Global Fund through UNDP Nepal. A FAST implementation corner has been set up at United Mission Hospital in Palpa.
