They got their headline saying he was indicted. That all they cared about.

Allow me to add a few on your behalf: Glasgow, Leicester, Grosvenor, Bicester, Wymondham, Wisbech, Flitwick, and Keighley to name a few.

Wait till they miss a couple of paychecks during the shutdown and see how morale get hammered.

Good point. Would be interesting to know how much modern technology reduces the manpower requirements compared to old school Stasi. 75%? 80%. They already use this platform...

As horrible as things are, the USG would have to scale to what Stasi was in East Germany to really clamp down. Stasi had one agent per 66 adult citizens. Add the informants and it was one agent/informer for every 6.5 citizens. There are ~267m adults in the US, so ~41m agents/informers are needed.

I work in a technical field. I have yet to meet anyone who thinks AI matches the hype. If anything, we are getting tired of it. So many of the results of Google searches are horribly wrong. This is being driven by Wall Street and AI shills.

35 years ago we were spending a lot more on news than now. Looking back, I was spending at least $75 a month in today's dollars for a Washington Post subscription plus grabbing the three weekly news magazines off the shelf - Time, Newsweek, and US News & World Report.

You've educated these officers over the years. What do you imagine they are saying amongst themselves back in the office, including all those senior NCOs who tagged along. Inviting those NCOs seems like an even bigger mistake for Hegseth to me.

We had another saying for this - "slow roll until OBE." And that event was usually a new commander. Maybe these old timers remember a saying from when I served in the 1980s: you fuck the herd and the herd will fuck you. Let's see.

Schumer's waiting for someone to replace the typewriter ribbon. Then he'll get right on it.

Uh. She died 88 years ago. Any classified info would have already been declassified unless there's proof she was abducted by space aliens, or some crazy shite like that.

I've thought the best way forward was to ignore the culture war BS and focus on Trump's corruption, all his broken promises, and what Dems will do for all Americans. But I see your point here, too - decades of the GOP rebranding Dems has stuck with ~35% of voters. That has to also be fixed.

There was a saying when I was in the USAF back in the '80s something like: never trust the French, never rely on the Italians, and *never underestimate the Brits.*

Ever heard of Google?

Unfortunately, signatures from letters to a never Trumper and Clinton of all people will not be proof to MAGA. They will be instantly swatted down as faked by his enemies. People will have to find legal docs and examples to GOPers that match from the period.

If Dems are worried that they may share some of the blame for a shutdown, then why did they not start an aggressive messaging campaign to focus the blame for any shutdown on the party in power? Why can't we have an opposition party that knows how to f'ing oppose? Ugh.

Thanks for the earworm. Ugh.

You read my mind - I just commented on it earlier. It makes my blood boil. The Dems have been hanging onto this belief for decades that responding to GOP BS somehow dignifies it. But you can't kill this BS by ignoring it. It's the same stupidity since Kerry got swiftboated and Dems were silent. Ugh.
bobdevine.bsky.social
That first sentence is one of the reasons we are in this mess today - the Dem belief that responding to misinformation dignifies it when in reality *not responding* allows misinformation to fester and metastasize. For decades they've done this. You can't kill it by ignoring it.
