I felt the Balz was always regurgitating conventional wisdom. On another note, however, as bad as the Post is bleeding commentators, their reporting on Trump has been more hard-hitting than the times
It starts at the top--literally. We need more criticism of headline writing and deks. Most people only read them. Yet, too often we analyze the story and let hed writers off.
Alas, I'll never get that hour of my life back that I wasted listening to this. Thiel is living proof that you don't have to be smart to make a billion. He was incomprehensible.
In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

Should the human species survive? Peter Thiel really had to think about it. On this episode of “Interesting Times,” Ross Douthat and the tech right power player discuss immortality, whether Elon Musk really wants to go to Mars and the Antichrist.

Good point. Press loves labels
The news media call Zohran Mamdani a "democratic socialist." That's not his party affiliation – that's his ideology. So why don't the media focus on the ideology of MAGA Republicans and call them "fascists"?
When are American Jewish leaders going to condemn Trump for using antisemitism as an excuse to demolish American institutions and values?

It’s actually insane that there’s an argument happening here over whether the plane grift is “corruption”

What are we even doing?

Since he's such a champion golfer, I wonder if he's OK having just one or two golf balls.
His out is "to the best of my ability."
Distortion. Point of view based on facts. Angle. Slippery slope. They're hoping to limit all news to just the facts, ma'am. The illusive objectivity, i.e., the anodyne. Can you even quote anyone, lest they be considered a distortion?

Excellent post. So true.
Notice how this works. A year ago, the subhead here would have said “which is expressly forbidden by the constitution.”

But Trump floats a crazy assertion and then WaPo retreats to saying “which most legal scholars say..”

Stop he said/she saiding truth. It is expressly forbidden. Period.
What does "of course" add to this article?
I doubt WaPo has the guts.
Trump is fading fast. Markets, universities, tariffs, judges, protests, polls. All turning against him. Why I fear this is bad news for the Democrats.

Trump’s Failures Are Not the Dems' Salvation
What is their Project 2028?

Why not defend the man? Because he has tattoos and a Bulls cap, or does Van Hollen not want to identify too closely with immigrants. Typical of the weasel way Dems frame things. What would you not defend him against?

"It’s the media’s responsibility not to leave the public with a false impression," writes @sulliview.bsky.social on the newsroom tendency to put misleading headlines to Trump stories, leaving more nuanced truths to the 8th paragraph.

The oversight enables Trump spin ... at democracy's expense.
Trump pretends he's a dictator — and the credulous media too often nods along
His endless executive orders often are presented as actual law. They're not.

This type of news media framing @vox.com is deceptive. Suggesting that housing is more important than the stock market to Trump voters when the difference is 17% to 20% is intellectually dishonest. It's within the margin of error.

Can't remember when NYT highlighted--at the top of its website--a liberal justice's dissent.
Let's start w/ adopting the abundance agenda. Liberals need to get out of their own way when it comes to building big things and making radical change.
