Third time's a charm, they say, let's see :))

First batch was not my taste.
Second batch (with mango) was too thick and got improvised into a jam
Third batch we'll see in a couple of weeks

A fermentation jar full of green peppers, onions and garlic
Hm, I'm intrigued, as it never occurred to me I could actually dry that part and use it as seasoning.

I think fermenting it is, as my jars are quite big (5L), and that will most likely consume most of my green peppers. Thanks
P.S. I'm open to suggestions on what to do with so many green peppers 😅
Was inactive lately on this platform, but now the pepper season is officially over in my area and overwintered some of them.

I'm happy with the amount of peppers I got this year and what I've managed to achieve in terms of "products". Not everything was perfect or ideal, but we live and learn.

🌶️🌱

Oh, wow, weird decision to limit that, honestly.. It was a nice alternative to the classic subreddits
Hey @chillichirps.bsky.social, offtopic, but is the HotPeppers feed working for you? Mine is stuck at posts 5 days old, and I'm not sure if it's broken just for me or not :))
Waited one year for this, but oh boy, is it worth it 🌱🌶️
It happens, just note what went wrong, what went well, and take it into consideration next time. Last year was pretty bad for me, I guess a combination of not enough light and them being stunned from overwintering.

Either way, sometimes it's just not going the way it should, keep your head up 🌶️
Excellent, will search around for some. You just saved me from getting scratched when moving too enthusiastically around them :)) Thank you!
Random question, but what's the name of the green stick-ending thing in the top left picture? I think I could use some :))
I'm trying 2 things mostly: see if I can get some peppers during winter, and see if an older generation could have a head start compared to new seedlings. I'm far from both of them, as any issues will set them back for a long time, but it's a process
Yeah, I'm new to this, but it feels pretty difficult to plan ahead, since weather is so unpredictable
I'm from Romania. I also tried overwintering and relying just on sunlight, but it wasn't enough in my case, I lost ~50%. So I made a closet-like thing in a basement with 3 led lights. This allows them to enjoy ~20°C during winter while the lights are on, and 13-15°C during night, when they're off
Fingers crossed for warm weather in your area. Over here, it looks acceptable until the end of the month, over 20°C
What brine are you using for this?
Will keep an eye on them, as last year I had some issues with high humidity in their space, which I guess these pots might accentuate if they transfer the humidity faster.. I also need to figure out a tray to put them on
This year I'm gonna experiment a bit when overwintering by using these pots. They're supposed to promote root growth and make life easier when removing the plant from pot 🌶️🌱
Yup, those ones, thanks!
The little pumpkin-like peppers are cute 🌶️ What type are they?
Harvesting another round of peppers 😁 Jalapenos are officially ripening (finally).. Praying for two more weeks of nice weather before starting to overwinter them 🌶️🌱
Don't know what it is, but considering how productive it is, that branch on the right might need something to lean on soon 🌶️🌶️
I underestimated the weather. April was hot, so by the 1st of May I had mine moved in the garden (they were overwintered), being sure that it's only upwards from there. But then we had like 2 weeks of 4-10°C during the night. ⛄
That orange-red-orange gradient is great. It would be interesting to have a variety looking like that when ripe.
Hoping for a long summer so all the other Jalapenos get to turn red. Here's an intermediate harvest, turned in some sweet-chilli jam and future-fermented sauce.

P.S Weird that habaneros seem to ripen more quickly, though. 🌱🌶️
Christmas tree vibes 🎄. Ready to pickle 🌱🌶️
