Argh! This is me at the moment. I’m going to be dreaming of edits until this grant application is submitted.

Maybe the AHES community shouldn’t support pushing AJHE to A* on the ABDC list because it risks them pushing HE down to A? Just saying that last time the totally delisted Value in Health. #healtheconomics @aushealthecon.bsky.social

I just got back from an amazing trip to China to meet researchers at the Shanghai Health Development Research Centre and present at a workshop and massive conference. Fascinating insights into #HTA processes and #healtheconomics research in China.

Apparently ChatGPT improved its functionality and can now make an image of a full wine glass - a big leap. Big discussion on Reddit. I thought I’d test it.

Thank you ChatGPT. I shouldn’t give up my day job yet. #healtheconomics #HTA

Great article about what is in the budget for healthcare. Most of these measures have already been announced, and are needed or even overdue (in the case of women’s health). But much more remains to be done.

Australians will save on the costs of scripts and on GP visits. But the budget doesn’t start the reforms needed to secure the health system’s long-term future.
Budget delivers cheaper medicines and more bulk billing but leaves out long-term health reform

I could talk for hours on the PBS, but this article explains it in a nutshell. Yes, the system is not perfect. But gosh it’s great, and worth defending.

P.s. the companion article on the impact of tariffs is available here: theconversation.com/will-the-us-...

The PM says the PBS is not up for negotiation, while the opposition leader says it’s the envy of the world. But how did we get this system, and how does it compare?
Australia’s PBS means consumers pay less for expensive medicines. Here’s how this system works

I’m very much looking forward to hearing my good friend Mike Paulden discuss A Framework for the Fair Pricing of Medicines and thinking about its applicability to Australia. Very timely given the HTA review. #HTAreview #HTA #healtheconomics

Great article! Are urgent care clinics just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic if there’s a GP shortage? @muche-macquarie.bsky.social

My tomato plants are the healthiest I’ve ever grown, higher than the fence, and I picked >2kg tomatoes in the last week. Bug free! So I made tomato relish 🙂 I also made yummy zucchini pickles with a marrow as big as my forearm. Also, the cockatoos haven’t found my sunflowers… yet. 😄

This week, the federal government announced it will pay states and territories an extra, one-off, A$1.7 billion for public hospitals. Read Professor Henry Cutler's new piece in The Conversation on whether this will make a difference to waiting times: t.co/T51OxUIjFZ

Great explainer of Trump and why playing a single stage game means the player will lose, when there are actually multiple stages and many other players. Game Theory 101.

This is a really interesting explainer of Donald Trump’s negotiating style in business and why it will backfire when he tries to apply it to running a country. By professor David Honig. Worth a read.

Waited for 1.5 hours to see a corpse flower called Putricia. I could smell Putricia the corpse flower as soon as I got near the door. Like musty compost or an old dish cloth. It was bigger and more impressive than I imagined. Worth the wait. #BBTB #corpseflower
