Pioneer continues to be the best format, with lots of diversity, cool decks and plenty of room to brew.

this was already assumed, but as I'm getting more and more into testing timeless for the arena championship that's coming up, the more it's obvious this is a garbage competitive format that they haven't actually been paying attention to at all. Such a miserable experience on every level.

Today starts the beginning of about 4 weeks of doing nothing in magic but jamming timeless for the AC. It's strange to have a format these days with basically no information on what's good in it. I'll have to jam a million matches to figure it all out from scratch.

I have never been more excited for a set than the return to lorwyn. I will be going to all the events I can from lorwyn release until TMNT comes out

The more I go to magic events, the more it seems constructed just isn’t something I want to play anymore. You used to be rewarded for finding cool interesting ways cards interacted. Now there’s no reason to not jam a stack of cards that are all way above rate (UWx blink decks, Boros energy, etc)

Well, I didn’t lose to anything that wasn’t a solitude ephemerate deck, but I got paired into it 5 times in 8 rounds so fuck me I guess

Arena keeps feeding me busted red and black rares in ATLA drafts. I've only had 5 drafts so far, but haven't even touched green or white yet. 4th firebenders ascension and 3rd obsessive persuit already. Would really like to try the allies deck at some point.

WOTC is on a really bad streak the last year or so of putting 1-2 really fucked up cards in every set. Badgermole Cub is looking like it's the newest addition to the 5ish design mistakes to come out of standard sets in the last year, and that cut off isn't counting Bloomburrow or Duskmourn.

The nonstop barrage of shit ads finally got me to delete twitter off my phone. I want the magic content, but not at the cost of every third thing on my feed being AI, sports betting or temu ads

There should be a hard rule that if your power cube deck doesn't have any power and your opponent does, you automatically get to be on the play. I just lost 3 games in a row on the draw against opponents who had t1 mox and nothing I did all 3 games mattered even the slightest

Thanks in large part to the bans, I'm pretty hopeful for standard and like a lot of what ATLA set brings to the format. UW tempo flyers with momo and Aang looks good, even if the mana sucks. Badgermole cub can be nuts in UG Jackal. UR lessons seems like a real budget deck that's not embarrassing.

It’s odd they banned heartfire hero in pioneer, as all the numbers I see on the deck in pioneer show it has bad win rates despite being the most popular deck.

They did much better than I expected on the ban update. Didn’t quite go as far as I’d like, but still pleasantly surprised. B+
