Tired of Turkey? Here’s an alternative.

Which animal kept me up multiple mornings, with their constant cacophony of cawing? These chickens, filmed during my Fulbright National Geographic Fellowship with the #sonyfx3

From dark iridescent bronze, to barred black and white, have you ever looked at a turkey’s feathers up close?

Here is your Saturday Snoot. This colorful little cartoon-looking critter is a planthopper nymph, about 1 cm. long, from Costa Rica. I do not know the function of the marvelous snoot. (Per iNat, family Dictyopharidae, possibly Lappida sp.) #Bugsky 🐙🌿👃

While auroras remained frustratingly elusive last night, I was able to capture a timelapse of these stars, and the occasional airplane, arcing across the evening sky.

In Jackson, Wyoming this fall? Try not to overlook some of the state’s tiny creatures. I got to film these during a fantastic 2021 Summit Fellowship with Jackson Wild.

Surprise impromptu #coyote encounter! I didn’t have any of my camera equipment on me during my afternoon walk, so the iPhone had to do. I’ve heard them while walking in Kingstowne Park, but never actually seen one until now.

Have you ever seen a purple paintbrush?

That’s exactly what these delicate blooms resemble.

Here’s a time lapse of a Canada Thistle — a tough, spiny wildflower found across fields and roadsides.

The blooms of a small leaved lime are easy to miss.

But if you look up close, you’ll notice that even the supposed ‘ugly ducklings’ of the botanical world can be fascinating.
