Really weird, part of Glasgow is called “The Merchant’s City” that seems to have been a place associated with merchants involved in the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Not sure if there was ever an actual slave market there but makes you think.

In Scotland “going for the messages” means going grocery shopping. A new friend told me others including all types of lemonades and colas being referred to as “a bottle of ginger”. Very confusing.
