An honour to address @tuc.org.uk.

I've learned so much from my community, it shaped me. The values that underpin our movement motivate me every day.

It's time we unite, put them into practice and build a modern Britain that works for working people.
Always the way, isn't it? Graduate from top uni says other people shouldn't aspire to go to university.

The Prime Minister's target – two thirds of young people getting a degree or an apprenticeship – is the right one. Only Labour backs our young people.

Thanks to Labour South East for inviting me along to speak at their fundraiser.

The progress we’ve made in education – rolling out free breakfast clubs, expanding free school meals, reviving Sure Start for a new generation, renewing our curriculum – couldn’t happen without you.

Some great results in from the latest multiplication tables check, with progress being made on last year. 🚀

Labour demands high and rising standards for all children, not just a lucky few.

Thanks to Andrew Pakes and the Peterborough Labour team for inviting me along to join them on the doorstep.

With more free school meals and new free breakfast clubs on the way, we'll give children growing up in Peterborough the best start in life.

Expanding free school meals is an anti-poverty, pro-learning, properly Labour policy.

We're setting up children to give school everything they've got, no matter their background.
November 25, 2025 at 8:28 AM
Tackling child poverty is a moral mission for this Labour government.

Our expansion of free school meals will lift 100,000 children out of poverty.

Important piece from Olivia Bailey on what free breakfast clubs can do for children with SEND.

Support for those children is at the heart of all we do, as we build inclusive schools where every child can achieve and thrive.

🚨 NEW: Half a million more children to get access to Labour’s free breakfast clubs next year.

We’ll target support to the areas that need it most, boosting parents’ work choices and children’s life chances.

National renewal in action.

LATEST: Reform UK schools policy

💰Cut state school budgets to restore private school tax breaks
✂️ Special needs identified as area for cuts
🥶 Make 8 year olds walk 5 miles to school in Winter
👎 Children with SEND called 'naughty'

We're getting more children into classrooms, and more teachers in front of them.

✔️ Absence decreasing across all school types
✔️ Persistent absence decreasing across all regions
✔️ Gaps between regions narrowing

That's down to the hard work of schools, families and Labour.

Last year, working with families and schools, we made the biggest attendance improvements in a decade.

Now, Labour is going further — empowering every school with data, resources and a clear roadmap to get pupils back in class, achieving and thriving.

Proud of the wide support the Curriculum and Assessment Review has attracted from across the educational spectrum.

Labour wants to set up our children for tomorrow. The work of @beckyfrancis.bsky.social and colleagues is an essential step forward in securing standards and opportunity.

What children learn at school should equip them for the modern world.

That's why Labour’s new curriculum will deliver strong foundations in reading, writing and maths — plus new skills like spotting fake news online and understanding money.

For every child across our country, this Curriculum and Assessment Review provides an invitation not just to share in our national story, but to write the next great chapter.

I want to pass on my sincere thanks to Professor Becky Francis and her expert panel.

I knew from opposition that Prof Francis was the person I wanted to revitalise & renew our curriculum.

She has been unflinching in her drive for high standards for all.

The Tories’ legacy in education was ceilings made from dangerous concrete being held up by steel props. Fixing it will be Labour’s.

Children learning in safety, classrooms fit for purpose, every child shown that they matter.

The Tories left our schools to RAAC and ruin.
