Yesterday some of our team ventured over the border to #Yorkshire to provide medical support at the 3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross race.

Thankfully there were no major injuries, but we did patch up several cyclists who had taken a tumble or five, and were advised on further treatment.

This donation will help keep our waterproofs and boots in top condition, so we stay dry and ready for action 🥾🌧

As an organisation made up entirely of volunteers, support like this makes it possible for us to respond - day or night, 365 days a year - to those who need us 🙏
A huge thank you to Grangers for their generous donation of cleaning and waterproofing products 🙌.

Our kit takes some serious punishment, especially in the Trough of Bowland where peat bogs and bracken can swallow team members whole (well almost!).

With some exceptions (like our rope rescue kit which needs specific skills) our Resources Officer makes sure that each month different people check different vehicles and kit ensuring we all stay current with what is kept where, what should be in each bag, and how it all works.
The eagle-eyed amongst you may have spotted that this happens once a month, and to some that may seem excessive especially when some kit may not have been used since the last ones. However, this isn't just about the kit checks...
Last night was a vehicle maintenance and kit check night. Whilst out vehicles are checked before every drive, this session gives them a more in-depth check.

Stood-down before arriving at scene.
Whilst the analysis of maps, application of data, and following established processes may not be as visible or appear as exciting as some of our work, knowing where and how to look for missing people underpins much of what we do.
Over the weekend we hosted a Mountain Rescue England & Wales search planning course at our HQ in the @forestofbowlandnl.bsky.social, with attendees from across the Mid Pennine region.
