Throwback Thurs: I wrote this article in 1996, 3 weeks after the Truth Commission began in South Africa. I noted, "...it is not guaranteed that simply listening to stories, as vital as it is, will foster lasting national reconciliation"

Great to hear Irish President, Catherine Connolly, speak today at Ulster University. A takeaway: "in a world unfortunately that is ever-more consumed with war and militarism...a lesson that we should all tell the world: that peace is normal and that war is not normal and that peace is possible"

Last week Greenland, will this week be Iran? Flood the media space, that’s the plan
Trump says US still ‘watching Iran‘ as ‘massive’ fleet heads to Gulf region
US president says 'big force going towards Iran' but he would 'rather not see anything happen' amid tension with Tehran.

The "Board of Peace" is another Trump grift. He holds the power, draft Charter gives him 'exclusive authority' to hire and fire. Countries must fork over $1 billion for 'permanent membership'. Remit extends beyond Gaza. Blatant power grab, undermining global cooperation for his gain and influence.
Who is part of Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’ for Gaza?
Trump unveils a complex three-tier governing structure for Gaza that places Trump and pro-Israel officials at the top.

A whirlwind start to the year: the flouting of international law, threats of occupation, ongoing bombing in Gaza ignored, the silence of complicity, UK hunger strikers about to die, and the tragic, inevitable violence that follows lawless US agencies. The slippery slope is getting more treacherous.

I recently posted about the Belfast Palestinian march. On Threads, I received 1,300 likes, 157 reposts, and 90 comments. Half were supportive, while the rest called me a terrorist, vermin, or brainwashed. A few even suggested bodily harm. But the haters only made up 2.5%. Don't be distracted.
