I beleive that the average person has no real concept of how many ppl live near them and work around them.

There were studies on how many ppl a person can know and what the limit is before everyone else becomes background noise.

Another thought: with the various fifteenth cultures and worlds ppl live in that overlap real places - ie different industries and groups operating without knowing about each other as neighbors - how easy is it to forget how complex our communities are?

Wtf is going on that those that are not protected aren't being fired or recalled?
