Lowland Snoot. Summer phase. Known for its comical bark-roar and legendary tracking ability thanks to its distinctive snout.

Yeah, I have no idea what I’m doing guys. I’m supposed to be putting together a kid lit portfolio, but I just wanna draw critters and ink them. Help.

Oh! Yeah I think I only posted that on Instagram a while back before I got better at posting other places too. Thank you 😊!

Something I’ve been sending out recently, some compiled images for potential clients to get an idea of the work I do…

Finally getting around to coloring this Samurai Squatch story. Though the pitch didn’t really go anywhere, I’m glad I’ll still have a chance to tell the story (albeit a much shorter version). More on that coming soon.

Sage and Woof searching the Wilder forests for rare and legendary wildlife. Gotta add them to her field journal!

The heroes heading out on their great big adventure. Trying to channel my “inner Jeff Smith” (Bone/Rasl/Tuki) with the inking. I love traditional inking, mistakes and all. Coming back to it after all these years makes me feel more like myself, if that makes any sense.

Hey it’s SeerCat and his pal Chirp! Another one for the picture book portfolio.

A post from a few years back, I still feel like I was onto something here…

Heads. What I draw when I don’t know what to draw. Sketchbook practice. I say “sketchbook”, but I actually mean “stack of 8 1/2 x 11 paper”. I’ve never been able to make sketchbooks work for me; I dunno, I’m weird.

SeerCat character design. Cole-erase and paper, getting back to the basics.

Decided to ink this dude, my take on a TMNT. These guys got me into drawing comics back in middle school. Also, I’ve been loving using a brush these days. Brush pens are close, but nothing beats the real thing!

Digitally inking one of my Samurai Squatch comic pages with some custom brushes I’ve made. They were created using actual India ink textures. I wanted to emulate actual ink brush work as closely as possible. Also listening to the great @jeffsmithsbone.bsky.social !

Finally finished this guy for THE WILDER character design lineup. Trying to give this whole comic a bit of a whimsical feel in the design. Three adventurers out searching the forests for “wilder critters” of every shape and size.

Turns out Samurai Squatch loves video games. A panel from my middle grade graphic novel pitch.

Inking comics in Procreate with brushes from my Storyteller Brush Pack I’ve been working on lately. I hope to have it available for others soon.

I never really had the dream to work for (fill in the blank) studio. I’ve always kinda just wanted to do my own thing. Tell my OWN stories. That’s what motivates me. Take that away, and work becomes dull. That’s why I keep doing COMICS. It’s the one medium where you can just make your thing.

Sage & Woof - character designs for a #kidlit graphic novel project I’ve wanted to do for years. Continuing to document my progress on this.

WIP. Back to work on my “fantastical field guide” comic. Pushing character designs to be more like an animated cartoon for the middle grade crowd. It also makes them faster to draw, since I don’t have a great deal of time for comic drawing these days.

A bit from the pitch I wrote for Samurai Squatch. I can’t share all of it, but figured I could at least show this. Moving on now to new projects while I wait to hear any news. #comics #indiecomics #sasquatch

New Graphic Novel pitch going out to publishers starting today! Fingers crossed. Lemme know if you or your kids might dig some samurai squatch heroics & tomfoolery!

Another design from the Samurai Squatch middle-grade graphic novel pitch…GREAT WHITE the Gugwe, the nemesis of Samurai Squatch. Inked with a brush from my upcoming Storyteller’s BrushPack.
