I am amazed how often Streeting (and Labour) find something ‘not right’. Whilst it may be ‘desirable’ to have 100% of the population fit to work and off benefits, the real scandal is a WM government who don’t care about the reality of people’s health. Instead, they just want to play a numbers game.

No argument, James. I am becoming increasingly agitated about the appalling state of our already toxic so called 'union'. Get us out of the UK, please! Before midnight, if possible...
brianl028.bsky.social
Well, that was a block fest! Sorry that you had to suffer such unfounded bigoted nonsense around this. To judge John Swinney as the equivalent of the anti-Christ really is some stretch!
brianl028.bsky.social
It is very depressing. I find it hard to comprehend what is going on these days!
brianl028.bsky.social
Well said, James. The stark truth.
Amazing that the Tories are persisting with Badenoch. She is quite clearly useless!
brianl028.bsky.social
Ah, this is an American thing. I had never heard of it.

Not according to the UN. I have seen people demonstrating against the killings in Gaza. Not one person in my experience has said, "Go Hamas! Wipe out Israel". What they are asking for is the end to the slaughter. A slaughter that includes 20,000 children, according to Save the Children.
GAZA: 20,000 CHILDREN KILLED IN 23 MONTHS OF WAR - MORE THAN ONE CHILD KILLED EVERY HOUR
At least one Palestinian child has been killed every hour on average by Israeli forces in Gaza over nearly 23 months of war, with the number of children killed now surpassing 20,000, Save the Children...

Dear me! Talk about clutching at straws!! 🤣🤣🤣
brianl028.bsky.social
No, they don't. I do understand it. No-one is defending the October, 7th attacks but the killing of many thousands of men, women and children is a wildly disproportionate response.
The UN has described what's happening as genocide. You either do not understand that or find the actions acceptable. 🤷🏼‍♂️
brianl028.bsky.social
Absolutely! Restore decency to Scottish politics.
brianl028.bsky.social
No argument. They are disgustingly self-serving and duplicitous. I despise them.
brianl028.bsky.social
Awesome! And no sign of 250,000 arrests for opposing genocide.

NEW: Extraordinary scenes in Amsterdam this afternoon (Sunday, Oct 5).

An estimated 250,000 bring the city to a standstill; people all wearing red to show solidarity with Palestine 🇵🇸

I was lucky enough to get to see Feeder at the O2 Academy in Glasgow with my son, despite storm Amy's efforts, on Friday. Comfort in Sound is a top album and the tour provided a bit of nostalgia for times when we listened to the - then newly released - CD in the car all these years ago.
Stage at O2 Academy in Glasgow on Friday, 3rd October 2025. Taken just before Feeder came on.

It is difficult to say exactly what would happen but there would be a backlash.
There is the current decolonisation process ongoing with the UN. So complex. Who knows how it will end but everything points to indy support topping 60% as a younger demographic becomes involved. Change is coming...

A lot stronger than I would like it to be but nowhere near being the largest party. Polls shows most more support for them in WM voting intentions compared with Holyrood.
Some (relatively recent) discussion of this here:
What the latest Holyrood polling means for the SNP, Reform, and independence
ABOVE all else, the reaction of independence supporters to The National's new Scottish poll from Find Out Now will be relief that it once again…

They would try to stop it. May even decide to take away the Scottish Parliament. Such an act would precipitate a crisis.
brianl028.bsky.social
I really hope so. Polling shows most with an opinion support indy. Still distorted because of weighting applied by pollsters, relating to 2014 referendum. Difficult to justify, statistically speaking. More to do with hiding the true level of support for independence.
brianl028.bsky.social
I hate Reform too. I can't understand why anyone in Scotland would back Farage.
brianl028.bsky.social
Absolutely! I am often driving and so have a soft drink or, quite often, prefer to have a soft drink even when not driving. The choices can be limited. For those who have a difficult relationship with alcohol I would think that this kind of place would be very welcome. Hats off to them!
brianl028.bsky.social
Yep. They have lost the argument and so they resort to lies.

Sadly, Starmer's government started by attacking the elderly and the disabled; breaking promises over WASPI women and Grangemouth inter alia. This, coupled with a dogmatic assertion to not rejoin the EU in his lifetime despite the billions it costs us, has led me to put him on the naughty step too!
