A3. Direct instruction is valuable when information needs to be front loaded in order to scaffold to higher-level thinking. This happened recently when I taught Pride and Prejudice. With so many characters, families, and estates, students needed my help to sort it all out. #aplitchat

A1. My first response to the article was more emotional than cognitive. I found myself feeling some of its sentiments. While this year has been different (because of a cell phone ban) the past two years have been somewhat vegetative. #aplitchat
