So proud to have released my debut novel, The Winding Way. Pick it up if you’re interested in a cozy fantasy with unique magic. Bonus points if you’re into magic circuses. Available on Amazon with Kindle Unlimited ebook or paperback. a.co/d/diiCLBA #books #fantasy #indieauthor
I was feeling burnt out for a good chunk of this month on writing but I'm getting back into it. I've put Project Soulcoil on hold because it wasn't motivating me and I've instead decided to start two new projects like a fool. Project Mecha Duo and Project Sky-Eyed. Details to come. #writing #author
Back to writing now that I took a lil break after my September of all writing.

Just finished my month of non-stop writing. Writing every day and keep my average word count 1000. Did it successfully and really pleased with myself. 30k words done. Gonna take a few days off now, haha.

Having a lot of fun writing about my main character growing a bone halberd up and out of his femur. It's taking over an hour and he has no painkillers so he's feeling the entire thing. Not a fun experience for him. But worth it when he has a weapon that can stand up to his strength

Thanks! I’m working the first book in a series. It doesn’t have a title yet so I’m just calling it Project Soulcoil. It’s a fantasy series with magic. The main character is training to become a ranger, a pseudo soldier works to protect cities from roaming monsters. Problem is, his magic doesn’t work
I was initially worried the book I'm working on now would be a little short when I wrote the outline. Now that I'm a decent chunk through I'm not as worried. Multiple fresh chapters have been added and my chapters are longer on average than previous books. Good progress.

I was intending my second published book to be A Study In Lycanthrope but I think that might go on hold for a while. I was a bit too ambitious with the formatting and it came out kinda awkward. Will revisit once I’m more skilled.

Thanks, will do! Can’t wait to get around to it.
I've finished Endymion by Dan Simmons and really enjoyed it but wow is it weird. Fortunately, I kinda enjoy weird scifi so it was entertaining but I see why people warn about it. I will be reading Rise of Endymion to finish out the Hyperion Cantos.

Mild body horror is more fun to write than I anticipated it would be. This guy's got extra bones splitting through the skin on his knuckles and growing upward. It's fun.

Having a cool idea for the book that requires a new chapter earlier on that you have to go back and write is both a really fun feeling while being a big hassle at the same time. But man this idea fits so well. Let's do it. Wireform compression for bone growth and blood replenishment.

I have begun construction on a crochet traffic cone hat. This is to accompany the tiny traffic cone I made years ago that sits on my speaker while my friends and I play DnD. It will be magnificent.

Right?! I quite enjoyed Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion (hence reading Endymion) but I would def not recommend them to first time scifi readers
I'm more than halfway through Endymion by Dan Simmons now and I'm understanding why people say it's weird. Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion were already weird and this book is probably even weirder. I'm enjoying it but definitely weird. It's leaning so hard into catholic authoritarianism.

Two magic systems where one is native and one is foreign is making for some fun writing. Characters discovering the rules they're used to don't apply.

Just finished writing a death scene that was not of a main character but of a character that meant a lot to a main character. Was an interesting experience trying to make it meaningful for the reader with so little introduction.

Starting Endymion by Dan Simmons. I really enjoyed the first two books of the #HyperionCantos but I have been warned the second two books are a bit more divisive.

Finished Ancillary Mercy today. This series is my favorite scifi series. So good and would recommend to anyone interested in scifi, a must read. #AnnLeckie

I adore Ancillary Mercy. This book has made me cry and I love it for that.

About to start the last book in the Imperial Radch series, Ancillary Mercy, by #AnnLeckie. So excited for this book, loved the first two.

The hardest part of doing writing for me tends to be sitting down and actually starting. I'll be at my computer and find a billion other things to do and distract myself (like writing this post) but once I've proper started then I'm in it.

I'm taking extra care to write characters with distinct voices and personalities in the book I'm working on now. I'm happy with how it's going and I think it's working in the text.

Coming up with names for different levels of mage is a fun time. First, second, and third order magus are current working titles for people who've achieved something ... special.
