A while back on twitter I put together a thread of lots of tutorials that helped me as a novice when learning how to make optimized 3D assets in Blender for VRChat use so I went through and organized it all into a carrd for ease of access and so I can keep it organized in a better format.

I guess the lesson here is go back and check on old stuff sometimes because memory is faulty and past you might be better at some things that current you.

Okay I was cooking with the lens actually. I forgot about this. It's kinda only useful for renders but it gives some nice fake chromatic aberration on the glass bsdf shader.

I see some pretty big mistakes with the normals along the grip but I'm mostly happy with this even now. It wouldn't take too much to make it usable. Crazy to think I made this a few months after I got started in Blender. I was definitely working with stuff I didn't fully understand making this lol.

What's something that you spent a lot of time working on but never got back to?

For me it's this model of a Canon AE1 Program that I scope creeped myself on and got distracted by something else. I made a fully functional aperture for it before even finishing the full thing and just forgot about it.

I'm a big fan of cheap horror games but they live and die by their writing and vibes. Stuff like Anatomy by Kitty HorrorShow and such.

Mechanically intense horror like Silent Hill takes exponentially more time to make and the ROI on something like that has gotta be less than just making horror slop, especially for people who just want the scares and not necessary the gameplay. 3hr $10 lite-puzzle horror game costs like nothing.

Yeah I totally get it now. I would love a Star Trek VR experience like Bridge Commander or something. I don't really think of horror when I think of trek and I'm more confused than anything.

I made a little blender add on for VRM models to quickly generate blendshapes from shapekeys on your meshes!

It'll ignore muted shapekeys, assign vrm presets, and combine blendshapes with the same name from different meshes
