Built for the world’s toughest runways.Rugged. Reliable. Ready.

The Britten-Norman Islander was designed for short, unprepared strips and it’s been mastering them for over 50 years.
As we continue to strengthen our manufacturing capability in the UK, we are preparing to meet the demand for new Islanders from operators worldwide.
Backed by new investment and a wide-ranging transformation initiative, Britten-Norman has introduced cutting-edge technologies, including state-of-the-art CNC equipment, and grown its workforce by more than 40% in the past 12 months.
Wing assembly of the first aircraft is expected to be finished later this year, with final assembly scheduled for early 2026 ahead of first delivery in spring 2026.
We’re delighted to announce that assembly on the first UK-built Islander at our Bembridge facility on the Isle of Wight has passed the 50% mark.

Developed from the Islander, the rugged three-engine BN2A Mk III Trislander was designed for demanding conditions: carrying heavy payloads from short or unprepared runways.
On 11 September 1970, the BN2A Mk III Trislander took its maiden flight with John Britten, Desmond Norman and test pilot Andy Coombe on board, arriving at Farnborough Air Show the same day for a bold public debut.
For 60 years, the Britten-Norman Islander has proven its strength and versatility in every corner of globe – from the Ecuadorian Amazon to remote Scottish islands, and from daily passenger routes to disaster relief and frontline operations.
First flown on 13 June 1965 from Bembridge Airport, the Islander was the result of a bold vision by John Britten and Desmond Norman to create a reliable, rugged aircraft that could go where others couldn’t. That same pioneering spirit is alive in the company today.
The Board expresses its deep gratitude to William for his remarkable leadership, playing a pivotal role in securing the company’s legacy as a critical component of the UK’s aerospace and defence capabilities.
This transition comes at a pivotal time for Britten-Norman as the company embarks on a new phase of investment, innovation, strategic development and growth.
On departing his current role, he will remain an active member of the Board in a non-executive capacity, with a primary focus on business strategy.
