Home run derby to end the game.
AI man, this game has got to be made by AI.
I think after 13 innings the teams should have to start randomly selecting fans from the stands to pitch.
I guessed it was around 2200ft…at least over here on Annette. Looking across the way toward Saxman from near Walden Point.
A nice evening out at one of the overlooks by Walden Point, worked on clearing some alders away from the weather station there…they grow so fast. The bay in the photos is Annette Bay, where our ferry terminal is. I enjoy watching the stronger wind gusts moving along the water.
Another day, another high wind warning!
AJK continues High Wind Warning valid at Oct 22, 6:00 PM AKDT for Annette Island, Ketchikan Gateway Borough, Prince of Wales Island [AK] till Oct 23, 12:00 AM AKDT Link
First time I’ve ever had a weather station break 100 mph…the Chester Lake Dam station is getting a serious workout tonight!
Much wind, big wow. And to think, we get to do it all over again tomorrow night!
AJK continues High Wind Warning valid at Oct 21, 7:00 PM AKDT for Annette Island, Ketchikan Gateway Borough, Prince of Wales Island [AK] till Oct 22, 4:00 AM AKDT Link
Just to clarify, their weather balloons have ballast and controlling electronics on them…they can be moved up and down repeatedly to create soundings over multiple areas. There is a very big difference between that and what the NWS launches!
AWS is down right now, which has taken out a bunch of apps and websites. I don’t know what service AWIPS in the cloud is supposed to use, but I really hope that they ensure there is redundancy once everything goes fully in the cloud. Remember, 1 is none, 2 is 1.

Update: 24 people from 2 floating homes in Kwigillingok were airlifted and rescued Sunday, according to a spokesperson with Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and transported to the airport.

No reported injuries or confirmed deaths in Kipnuk or Kwig.
A couple of updates from KSKO in McGrath. A tree has taken KSKO off the air. KSKO is based in McGrath, but also has repeaters in the following communities:

Grayling (KGYA)
Shageluk (KNKO)
Holy Cross (KLOP)
Anvik (KMGS)
Nikolai (KNIB)
Sleetmute (KSKP)
Crooked Creek (KSKC)

79 mph at the airport on Saint Paul Island and 91 mph on Saint George Island through 10:35 pm!
And 3 out of 4 of the most impacted WSOs are vacant.
Congratulations! 🎉
Someone yelled in his ear to shut his mouth and not say another word.
“Door slams”

Well fine then, I didn’t want to talk to you either! 😂

All I have to say is…if I was leader of the House or Senate, starting 48 hours before any shutdown, no one would be going home until a spending bill was passed and signed into law. Also, all of them should be fined $5,000 a day during the duration of a shutdown.
No moose ‘round these here parts, so not me!
I believe the majority of those are the ones who took the fork in the road. They were put on administrative leave through the end of the fiscal year.
Frustrating for sure.
Though technically you could argue 4 of them are due to vacancies…Utqiagvik I don’t count because, while the WSO is vacant, WSO employees don’t do anything upper air related there anymore.
