Curious, how did you get rid of the garbage?

I sync my #Obsidian vault for free between desktop and mobile.

How? An Obsidian vault is just markdown files, so any file sync works. 3 options ⬇️

1️⃣ Google Drive, One Drive, or any other cloud provider.
2️⃣ Peer to peer tools such as SyncThing Fork or Resilio.
3️⃣ GitHub & co.

Want more details? See:

CSS related pages of my front-end guide so far include:
- Writing your CSS reset
- Using CSS variables
- Utility classes
- Styling markdown

All using plain #CSS.

Currently using #Obsidian for:
- collecting my thoughts and ideas
- saving important knowledge and information
- writing things such as my blog and monthly mail updates.

My two most important folder, /Zettelkasten and /Projects use a bottom-up approach.

Was also just about to start a new blog website that's based around a map with location pins as a central UI element! Didn't expect a map view so soon, might be quite helpful (since I use Obsidian + Astro for my blogs 😉)

Hope we can see this in the future! Maybe one solution could be to not necessarily make Bases be based on notes.

Could make it use a CSV or JSON file.

For example I have a note with websites that are well designed, using a normal table gets messy, but I also don't want to create a seperate template + properties + files for each, since that will fluff up my templates tab, my property recommendations, link suggestions etc.

Would love for a way to scope a group of notes / database content or to isolate them, similar to Notion Databases where the properties and stuff don't show up everywhere else.

I mention most of them in my recent vault tour post, but here are all of them, from using it to create websites, to using it to write my thesis and explaining how to create shortcuts on Android that can open different vaults: bryanhogan.com/tags/obsidian

Have been using #Obsidian as my main note-taking tool for more than 3 years now, and I still love it! So many things I prefer over other note-taking apps, especially the file over app approach using markdown files.

With my latest post about using Obsidian I have now written 10 in depth posts!

Yeah!

Yea, just put the light- dark switch deep into the backlog, think it's the least important thing on my list! :)

2) I'd add a TOC as a side element, so that you can fold it on mobile, similar to a hamburger menu. Either how I have it on my personal blog, or similar to how Astro Starlight does it: starlight.astro.build/getting-star...

4) I'd put a light- dark theme switch lower onto the priority list :D

Overall it seems very cool though! Like BearBlog but even better!

3. The ability to export *all* posts at once as markdown.
4. The option to have two themes, one dark and one light.
5. The ability to include a table. (Wrote a guide on styling these here: webdev.bryanhogan.com/miscellaneou... )
6. Option to choose the slug. (Kinda important!)
Styling Markdown

Features I'd like:
1. The ability to give tags to posts, and then add views to display all of my posts that have that specific tag.
2. A table of contents elements that shows you where you are in the text. Similar to how I have it here: bryanhogan.com/blog/introdu... (top right carret on mobile)

Wow that's so good! 😍 Love it!

I had originally stuck to the button box design as I had used it on another page, but now I think it's much better to change it to your design. The alignment change is also so good.
bryanhogan.com
Removed the gradient background and using a flat color instead. Fixed vertical alignment on the next / prev buttons. Could make the tags into buttons with the same style as the optional social media references.
Unsure what else could be done now.

Looks like this..?

Rebuilt the end-of-post section for my blog. Took much longer than I expected. Tried AI tools like Copilot and Claude Code, which are definitely helpful, but still decided to rewrite the HTML & CSS from scratch since anything generated was messy.

Any ideas on how to improve the design?

Funny contrast between post #1 and #2 on HackerNews today

#obsidian @obsidian.md
#notion @notion.com
Screenshot of HackerNews (20.9.2025) that shows number one post about Obsidian being safer, and post number two being about Notion having high risks in their AI agents.

Pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to run on Windows locally, no docker required. Could just install and run it, getting the API credentials took a bit but also not long.

Now I could send this to me by e-mail, Telegram message, add to a Notion database, further process, or do whatever.
