But he did push a racial/religious supremacist version of Western civilization and chastise them for immigration.

Also, I'm not sure he has clearly implied out loud before [checks notes] 'Europe needs to resume colonisation and imperial expansionism without guilt and then we'll get along with you fine', but I think I caught that. Maybe mine ears do play tricks on me.

This is why we must continue to keep teaching about gender in all out IR courses.
Again, the unifying 🧵 about this WH’s foreign policy is not realism or neo-royalism. It’s the extension of sexual assault/predation to IR. If they think you’re their macho pal, they’ll respect your sovereignty. If they don’t, they’ll try to violate you & humiliate you. Epstein-ism, if you like.
One of the most distinctive aspects of this WH’s foreign policy is to combine an extremely ecumenical Westphalianism about broad regime type (which I’m fine with TBF) with an extremely precise set of ideological preferences about who should win elections in the Western Hemisphere & Western Europe.

Best I can tell, rationale for bombing Syria is retaliation against remnants of ISIS (who Trump previously declared defeated) for killing US troops there.
US didn’t intervene against ISIS in 2014 due to threats against the homeland.
And Trump admin doesn’t seem to be claiming any such threat now.
