A BSAC Marine Champion has signed up to help an oyster restoration project in North Wales with the aim of boosting the number of oysters in our native waters. 🦪

Mel Hough-Milton recently spent a weekend volunteering to monitor oysters in the harbour in Conwy Bay marina. 🙌

BSAC divers rolled up their sleeves (and fins!) to help protect Llyn Padarn.

Over 3 dates and multiple dives, invasive plants Lagarosiphon major and Elodea nuttallii were carefully removed, helping native species thrive. 🌱

Big thanks to the volunteers who made this possible! 👏

Angela Parker, co-founder of the British diving equipment manufacturer AP Diving, sadly passed away in December at the age of 88 following a short illness.

The team at BSAC sends our condolences to the Parker family, and all of Angela's friends and colleagues. 💙

A rare loggerhead turtle that was found washed up in Jersey cold-stunned has now been transferred to a sea life centre in Dorset for rehabilitation! The turtle was being cared for in Jersey before being flown to England. 🐢

BSAC is sad to learn of the passing of Richard Larn OBE at the age of 94.

Richard was a pioneer in shipwreck diving and maritime history around the British Isles and leaves behind an important legacy. He was BSAC’s deputy diving officer in 1961 and 1962, after joining in 1957. Rest in peace. 💙

A huge well done to BSAC club Cayman Islands Divers who have finished what they started and cleaned up and entire beach blighted by discarded polystyrene. 🙌

The club had previously removed 28 bin bags full of waste in November. 👏

🌱 Seagrass "fairy circles" have been discovered on the seabed in the Sound of Barra in Scotland’s Western Isles!

👉 NatureScot said it was not known why the plants grew in circular shapes rather than the usual meadows, but added that the formations were rarely seen.
