The former slaves states never really recovered from their loss of slave labor/sharecroppers/chain gangs. And they'll forever be poor and struggling bc they never reckoned with their racist pasts.

When the Ford's model T went to the after market, black ppl could afford used cars. This was around the time black ppl started escaping the former slaves states and Jim Crow. Black ppl couldn't travel freely bc of black codes and racism. But once they had access to cars, they could get away.

Many current Red States are former slave states. They're poor with bad infrastructure for a reason. And they'll likely stay that way bc they never adjusted after black folks got free and escaped.
