This ☝️is why I built StampHash (stamphash.app). I downloaded the Bureau of Labor Statistics Aug. 1 report and saved a hash of the PDF to the #Bitcoin blockchain. If this administration tries to falsely change the report, there is a digital fingerprint on the blockchain of the original report.
StampHash - Secure Evidence Collection and Blockchain Verification
Capture photos and videos with cryptographic proof of authenticity. Secure your evidence on Bitcoin blockchain with timestamped, tamper-proof verification.

bsky.app/profile/jame... is my post to the @nytimes.com explaining why apps like StampHash are needed for this very purpose. We cannot trust anything that comes from this administration so facts need to be recorded in a way where they can't be modified by corrupt politicians.

Don’t let this happen to your family. Have the conversation today with Burrell Law. If you need resources or someone to talk to about drafting a will, please reach out to @talithacumi.bsky.social our Wills, Trusts and Estates attorney in our Washington, DC office. 10/10

PLEASE talk to anyone whose home you might be living in or counting on. A basic will isn’t expensive, and it can literally be the difference between keeping or losing your home. The hard truth is that without a will specifying otherwise, the law treats all heir at certain levels equally. 9/10

Entire multi-generational households getting torn apart because someone didn’t draft a will. It’s especially bad in neighborhoods like Petworth and Southeast DC where property values have skyrocketed—suddenly distant relatives have a financial incentive to force sales of family homes. 8/10

If that wasn’t bad enough, the property taxes and water bill don’t stop coming just because someone died. Keshia had to scrape together money for the recent tax payment while simultaneously trying to figure out how probate court process works. 7/10

Meanwhile, Keshia, who cared for her mom through illness and has nowhere else to go, could end up homeless in the same neighborhood she’s lived in her whole life. 6/10

They automatically get some ownership interest in the house. Siblings she barely knows are pushing for a sale so they can get their cut of the property value. 5/10

But since Keshia wasn’t on the deed and her mom died without a will, DC law kicks in with this mechanical formula for who gets what. Turns out Keshia’s mom has three other children spread across the country who she barely spoke to, but guess what? 4/10

Because her mom didn’t have a will (in legal terms, her mom died “intestate”). Her mom owned that house outright—paid off the mortgage years ago.

Imagine that you have a neighbor who’s been living in a beautiful brick brownstone row house in the Petworth neighborhood in Northwest DC with her mom for the past 15 years. Her mom passed away suddenly last month, and now she's facing eviction from her childhood home. Why? 2/10

A 🧵 for @talithacumi.bsky.social and our friends in #WashingtonDC When Momma Passes and There’s No Will: How Washington DC Intestacy Laws Can Be Costly. Many people hate to think about death, so they fail to consider drafting a will. Imagine this scenario. 1/10
