Also she is 41 years old.

The locals just say 37-9/16ths Stave, for simplicity.

I would only care that almost no one is going to understand that if I thought anyone was reading it in the first place.

Now that one has arrived I can confirm that the Jinhao 10 is one of the funniest things going on right now. The Majohn A1 was bad enough, but now I feel like China is just openly trolling Japan.

Smoking/Christianity is great. Bad habit trade!

Somehow those classes never end up telling you about things that were secretly sort of great, actually, and not bad at all.

And having to outfit an entirely new ship to go get him too!

It's like if the US did a whole second moon landing just to go arrest Buzz Aldrin while he was still up there. (He knows what he did.)

It never fails to make me laugh how many people think they're getting more threatening when they leave the huge steel box.

Man, now you're my size, and I'm already angry.

Everyone is always stealing Philosophy's words.

Some Philosopher comes up with a specific piece of terminology to represent a complicated phenomena, and everyone just goes "I'll use that to mean when I spill soup on my shirt because I'm trying to watch TV from a recliner while I eat it!"

People suggesting not responding are missing out on the glorious opportunity this represents for lying.

Does she know how broadcast journalism works? Absolutely not.
Is there someone whose job it is keep the satellites in the air and press the "broadcast" button at just the right time? Could be!

I love how he complains about google not reducing his balance any further when it turns out he had already gotten them to reduce the balance by twenty thousand pounds.

The first one is an easily solved problem, and the second one takes care of itself after that!

Well, you'll never ge lots of people driving in from the suburbs to visit if you fill it with city residents.

We don't need to be carceral about it. There are so many other options!

We could just say that for a set period of time, counted in average lifespans, a corporation must exist without the protection of the laws. They thought they didn't need them, so ok, there you go, no enforcing any contracts.

"She's only doing the right thing and it's virtue signaling to make me look unreasonable for hating her, and I hate that!"

I'm not certain I've ever seen someone use the term 'virtue signaling and mean this.

Did they say anything about the prices?

Ezra (and a lot of others) doesn't have to by worried about not having money for things, or being subject to state sanctioned violence. But shame is just as painful for him as anyone else.
busillis.bsky.social
It is notable that the people most publicly opposed to shame, and shaming, are typically the ones who are are privileged enough to feel protected from other kinds of social pressures.

Yes, I think this is right. Shame is complex. It often backfires. But it was undeniably a force in helping me shed the conservatism I was raised with.

The Necessity of Shame
Shame is dangerous, yes. That doesn’t mean it’s dispensable.

After Kissinger and De Klerk I think it's more an insult than an award.

I'd say we should give it to Trump on those grounds, except that he desperately wants it and I want him to live a life of privation and despair.

Doesn't show a lot of faith in the parents that choose to homeschool either, does it.

(I prefer to believe it's a course in, like, what libraries are, how busses work, how to act polite in public, etc.)

They could probably save time by just designating the nearest large parking lot the drop-off zone and then just run a school bus back and forth from it, at that point.

Probably have to lie to all of the parents about where the school is, though. "Oh yes, this is KMart Elementary School."

The idea that you'd need a special process for "child walks out door, goes home" is just wild to me. That's the process right there! The fact that that's the process is why it's the best way to do it!
