The stupendous, monumental and awesome Mesozoic Art II is officially out in shops TOMORROW and we know that many people who've ordered one have already received their own copies. Here are thoughts on this amazing book ... tetzoo.com/blog/2025/9/... #books #art #paleoart #palaeoart
Mesozoic Art II, Palaeoart Portfolio for the 2020s — Tetrapod Zoology
Among the most successful of books I’ve been involved in are those devoted to palaeoart. In particular, I’m thinking here of 2022’s Mesozoic Art , edited by Steve White and myself and published by Bl...

Hey look—now y’all can follow my friend and fellow coin designer/nature illustrator @emilydamstra.com , she’s the bees knees! 🐝

For my first post here, I'm sharing a little collage of my work: three natural science illustrations and one coin design. I've been a self-employed illustrator for nearly 25 years now, so this is a small sampling. Many more examples here: emilydamstra.com

These are lovely, some remind me a bit of a roadrunner (an excellent bird of course)

I started my career as a traditional painter, and I used to hand-paint gigantic canvas murals (like this 58’x14’ one from 2015 (c) Blue Rhino Studio). These days I’ve transitioned to doing the same kind of work, only digitally.

Should probably remind folks I’m also an illustrator, you might see my work out in the wild on a cover like this recent one for Scientific American

New sabretooth just dropped! Well, scimitar-toothed if we’re being serious

This is not a drill, a mummified sabretooth cat has been published from the #Pleistocene permafrost of Russia. It's a Homotherium cub! The team (Lopatin et al.) reckon it's Homotherium latidens. It's too young to have enlarged upper canines. Paper is OA ... www.nature.com/articles/s41... cont...

Reintroducing myself here—I’m a #PaleoArtist (illustrator of natural history), sculptor/fabricator and lead #muralist at Blue Rhino Studio. Here’s a popular pic of me doing a small part of the job—creating #dinosaurs! #quetzalcoatlus

Reminder to my artist friends that this awesome site exists. It lets you pick a species of animal, set the orientation of the skull, and then search for pictures of that animal that match the skull position.

Also, consider tipping the creator if you found it useful!

Honestly don’t know where to be putting my energy these days. Posting new work feeds the AI beast, besides the algorithms seem to severely limit the reach when I do, compared to past results. Anyone out there have advice here? #art #artist
