The Scottish Government said it had an “action plan” … on “behaviour in schools”.

And the Welsh Government said it was developing “proposals to improve behaviour.”
A spokesperson for the Department for Education previously said in response to these figures they were “committed to turning the tide on poor behaviour”, they were providing access to a “mental health professional in every school”.. But there was “more to do”.
And look at what’s happening in primary schools.

Our exclusive data reveals the most common age for a school child to be suspended for physically assaulting a teacher in England and Wales is 6 years old.

Six years old.
In the school year ending summer 2023 alone there were 55,000 suspensions for attacking an adult.

Really alarming.
So we’ve revealed the number of violent crimes and stabbings recorded by police at schools.

And we’ve revealed the number of violent injuries reported to the Health and Safety Executive.

For a sense of the vast scale of the violence there’s one more figure you need to know..
The figures are for England, Wales and Scotland. (The HSE does not include Northern Ireland.)
Violent attacks on teachers 2013-23 included:

• 1,011 fractures

• 126 lost consciousness

• 16 lost or reduced sight

• 4 amputations
We revealed the number of teachers who experience violent injuries at work has more than doubled in the last 10 years, from 302 in 2013 to 682 in 2013.

Over the decade there were nearly 5,000 violent attacks reported.
These were attacks on teachers so violent they had to be reported to the safety regulator - the Health and Safety Executive.
