So, like, those of us who create using our meat brains… Are we going to be considered radicals just for abstaining from generative AI?

Because I am in for The Rebellion!

Recently, I’ve decided that if I feel super unwell, I take the day off. And by allowing myself to do completely nothing, I often find can catch up easily the next day. So for me, those body breaks are really important. (I also factor in those breaks when planning deadlines.) #SpoonieAuthChat

What are effective ways that you manage your spoons in order to meet deadlines?

One of my besties is coming over at the weekend to show me his 3-D printer!

I do not need a 3-D printer.

I look for overused and unnecessary words like just, now, very, and really. While I like reading things out loud to feel the beats of dialogue, I also like having my screen reader read back to me. Or having somebody else read my words back to me. It’s a great way to catch things! #SpoonieAuthChat

MY BOOKS ARE GONNA BE IN A MILLION BOOK CLUBS!

If I was that gullible, that is.

Help me fund epic poem GULA: A Poem For The End Times on BackerKit! A modernist/post-modernist long-form poem, GULA explores Carrion City, a place where the lost and forsaken end up and rarely leave -- a mirror city to the world of the beloved and treasured.

One thing I’ve learned in life is that when you are respectful and inclusive, a side benefit is you end up with a whole lot of really interesting and amazing friends! That’s not why I am respectful and inclusive, but I am happy to be a friend to these awesome friends!

What’s fun for me as an editor is seeing my clients’ books finally published. I feel proud and excited when they do well too.

This! So this!
Some of my authors are on disability. Some struggle to pay monthly bills. Some are retired & on limited income. Some were laid off in the past couple years & have yet to find new work. Some would love to quit the day job & write full time, but don't earn enough from royalties to do that.

I like feeling cozy. So comfy clothes, including fuzzy socks if it’s cooler weather. I love my office because it’s so me, but under a blanket on a couch with my iPad or laptop resting on top of a pillow is nice too. I just need that cozy factor! #SpoonieAuthChat

I’M FEELING SO SHAMELESS!!!

So, I’m shamelessly promoting my award-winning, disability-hopepunk adventure, Season One: Iris and the Crew Tear Through Space!

(I’ll be working on season two next year, if spoons allow!)

A5: So far I have a perfect record of not working at all on my WIP for #FirstDraftFall! YES, ENVY MY GREATNESS! I’m not too worried though because I can foresee being able to carve out some time in December to review my first draft. #WeeknightWriters
Q5: Time for a status update! How is your #FirstDraftFall project going? Are you struggling with anything we might be able to help with? #WeeknightWriters
November 21, 2025 at 1:38 AM
A4: Don’t panic! I know it feels like a “Yes, all the panic!” situation, but the words will come back to you! #WeeknightWriters
Q4: What advice would you give to someone dealing with writer’s block? #WeeknightWriters #FirstDraftFall
November 21, 2025 at 1:35 AM
A3: I already answered this, oops. But also! I sometimes choose to write something completely different. Recently, I was stuck on a short story for a submission call, so I wrote three poems instead and submitted them! I figured can always pick up the short story another time! #WeeknightWriters
Q3: What helped you get out of writer’s block? Is this a strategy you’ve used consistently, or do you need to take a different approach every time? #WeeknightWriters #FirstDraftFall
November 21, 2025 at 1:03 AM
A2: It kinda feels like crickets inside my brain. All the power turns off! I haven’t had it during #FirstDraftFall… or have I? I think the extra chaos in my life these past two months is the blocker. *wags finger at the chaos* #WeeknightWriters
Q2: If you’ve experienced writer’s block - during #FirstDraftFall or generally - what did it feel like? #WeeknightWriters
November 21, 2025 at 12:49 AM
A1: I do believe I get stuck, for sure. Sometimes I need to just step away and focus on something else. Other times, I ask myself, “What story am I trying to tell me?” (I swear, that often gets me unstuck!) But I have a trick I love: 1/2 #WeeknightWriters
Q1: Do you believe in writer’s block? If so, have you experienced it - either during #FirstDraftFall or when working on other projects? #WeeknightWriters

Hi, humans of #WeeknightWriters! I’m Cait, like 🐱! My WIP is the meet-awkward-space-opera-romance nobody asked for: Hot Wings and Sauciness! And yay, I still haven’t gone through my first draft yet! GO ME! I still appreciate #FirstDraftFall though.
Hello #WeeknightWriters! Come on in, introduce yourself and your WIP, and let us know how your #FirstDraftFall project is going!

Getting back into freelance editing really lets me focus on something positive for my brain. I think it’s because I get to read cool books while helping them shine. It feels like building up when so much these days is about tearing down. Books are essential to our health, imo. #SpoonieAuthChat

I’ve learned that a lot of people really respect me and my work. I’m always thinking that nobody knows who the heck I am, but then I get invited to do these very cool things! Or I get really supported, like with the first book of my new micro press! #SpoonieAuthChat
