Urg, same.

(I haven't been doing my usual workout for almost a month while recovering from minor foot surgery. Today was PAIN.)

I was delight to find that I'd already blocked whoever this was!

(STARTUP HELL has a brief goat cameo for max office chaos. Why is a goat loose in an office? You'll have to find out.

Unannounced next project has a talking goat secondary character because I'm a menace and no one can stop me.)

...but also partly because of a conversation my husband and I had because I've put goats in not one but two of my upcoming books. Because goats are inherently funny/dramatic.

This is partly happening to them because of their own bad judgement (I mean, D&D party of middle schoolers, bad judgement is their JOB)...

A friend is estranged for good reason from her family of origin and finds the whole thing alienating and depressing. Every year she does a solo trip to a country that DOESN'T have Thanksgiving and revels it it not being a holiday there.

I genuinely enjoy Thanskgiving but I absolutely love the concept of Snacksgiving down to the name. Perfect!

My husband has been running a D&D game for our kid and his friends. Due to the party's bad judgement, their fate will include REVENGE GOAT

Remember - don't gloat, stoat!

I knew there was a reason this scene wasn't working.

All great stories share one special ingredient. Epic Fantasy? Steamy Romance? Hard SciFi? Look carefully and you'll find it: someone getting hit with a briefcase full of bees.

Oh excellent! I'm currently working with my local indie bookshop for signed copied for the holidays. Just order by Dec 9 and put any personalizations you want in the comments section of the order page!

Your Caitlin Rozakis Library Signed for the Holidays!
It's the time of the year when the days get shorter and the nights are more inviting. Think of it as the Earth's axial tilt giving you the green light to abandon the petty chores and casual indignities of your day a little earlier and ease into that comfy chair with a cup of cheer and a high concept book of low stakes magic. Caitlin Rozakis has just the elixir for you. Dreadful follows the amnesiac foibles of the Dread Lord Gavrax as he tries to remember why - or if - he wanted to be a Dread Lord in the first place. The Grimoire Grammar School Parent Teacher Association upends a normal, human family when their kindergartener is bitten by a werewolf, and their daily routine becomes a little less routine and more annoyingly supernatural.Order either (or both!) of these titles from the mighty Caitlin Rozakis by December 9, and she will autograph and personalize them. Expect all orders to arrive by the holidays.

...I don't suppose you have a recipe? Because while I do not think it would fly for Thanksgiving (generally, most birds don't, after roasting), I desperately want to try making it another time.

If you don't, I'm sure I can find something on the internet, I just figured I'd start at origin.

Maybe he'd consider the parrot bit incentive! 😁

The thing that almost took me out (HELLP syndrome) often takes the baby, too. In our case, baby probably would have survived...assuming grieving dad could find a wet nurse fast enough.

I love modern medicine, I really enjoy not being dead.

Same.
November 22, 2025 at 1:53 PM
Yes! Thank you! I couldn't quite put my finger on why it bothered me.
November 22, 2025 at 1:50 PM
Oh god. I did.
November 22, 2025 at 12:34 PM
Dammit. That was the only silver lining I could think of.

I didn't pay attention to most of the news today, so whatever happened before MTG has been obliterated by MTG. I don't even know what's going on anymore, I'm going to bed.

Wait, is this Frankenstein?
November 22, 2025 at 3:12 AM
Honest question, do people still do this? I kind of figured all the ones who would just go to ChatGPT these days.

(To be perfectly clear because this is the internet and I must hate waffles - I acknowledge that Greg is clearly joking.)
That thing where somebody says they have a great book idea and if you write it they’ll split the profits 50/50?

I know, I know. But guys? My ideas are SO GREAT!

Sometimes, those are the best. I got stranded for a bit once with a bunch of frat boys who had flown down to Florida to go to a baseball game. They met this weird writer lady almost 20 years their senior, and adopted me as their mascot. We had a great two hours hanging out at the bar.
