The bubble CPAP circuit is lower resistance and more pressure stable, and the gas is heated and humidified, so potentially several factors at play. It seems to work well for whatever reason(s)!

In work completed by my fabulous PhD student Beth Piscopo, we undertook a large retrospective cohort study showing in very preterm infants the presence of SGA or suspected FGR is associated with a reduced rate of IVH, compared to infants without SGA/FGR.
