the old mouth rig kept breaking so instead of learning how to fix it i decided to use grease pencil for the mouth instead.
i think it fits better anyway, what with him being a mii and all

turns out im fucking stupid i didn't need to texture paint OR shrink wrap anything. you can just apply materials to individual faces of a mesh. which is literally something i learned how to do in my 3D Modeling class weeks ago.
needless to say there is now no clipping at all anymore

also PRO TIP FOR ANY BEGINNER BLENDER USERS: if youre creating a rig for loose clothing that involves shrinkwrapped planes in place of texturing because youre too stubborn to learn how to texture paint, MAKE SURE TO APPLY THE MODIFIERS FIRST BEFORE YOU PARENT IT TO THE RIG

im an art student now so ive become a lot more conscious of these things. half because of the lessons ive taken, and half because of comparing my work to everyone else's lol

with my art this year ive been trying to branch out and do more interesting stuff (using gradients to make lighting effects in gimp, for example)
i think especially with my recent art you can tell im trying to do better framing and posing. making my characters actually interact well with each other

i'll be the first to critique myself since no one else will:
i think a lot of my art ive posted over the last two years has mostly been "characters standing around in a solid color void"
this isnt a problem by itself but i feel like the poses/expressions i draw arent dynamic or interesting enough

however i think it’s very telling that this argument is being drowned out by the nsfw accounts complaining about “censorship” because they have to have the common decency to put content warnings on the things they post (which is something they very rarely do on this site)

i agree that the rules about NSFW content are too vague and people who draw depictions of SA as an artistic statement or a reflection of their own experiences will most likely get caught in the crossfire. i definitely think they should be more clear about these cases!
