Winter Update! ❄️ Crews are working to keep roads clear as we head into the New Year. Keep cars off streets during Snow Events so plows can clear, salt & sand. Blocked streets stay icy until warmer weather helps melt. Over 1,000 tickets issued—don’t be the reason! 👀

▶️Never leave devices plugged in unattended.

Holiday safety starts with SAFE SMOKING.

▶️Encourage smokers to smoke outside.
▶️Use deep, sturdy ashtrays and extinguish cigarettes fully. ▶️Do not extinguish cigarettes in plant pots, which may contain a mixture of peat moss, shredded wood and bark that can easily ignite.
▶️Never smoke in bed.

Holiday safety starts with safe HEATING SOURCES.

▶️Have your heating system, vents, and chimneys inspected and cleaned annually by a qualified technician.

Holiday safety starts with SAFE COOKING.

▶️Stay in the kitchen when cooking.

Holiday safety starts with having a HOME FIRE ESCAPE PLAN.

▶️Identify two exits from every room.
▶️Determine who will be responsible for helping young children, older adults or anyone else that may need assistance.
▶️Choose a safe meeting spot outside.
▶️Call 9-1-1 from outside of the home.
December 23, 2025 at 2:59 PM
Holiday safety starts with SAFE FAMILIES IN THE KITCHEN.

▶️Show kids how to stay one metre (three feet) away from stoves and ovens.
▶️Explain why hot surfaces can cause burns.
▶️Turn pot handles inward when pots are on the stove so they can not be easily knocked or pulled off the stove.

Holiday safety starts with proper use of EXTENSION CORDS.

🔌Look for approved extension cords with certification marks like CSA, ULC, or ETL and rated for indoor or outdoor use.
🔌Extension cords should not be linked together, instead, use an extension cord that is long enough to do the job.

▶️Keep it away from heat sources to prevent it from drying out quickly.
▶️Use a sturdy stand that holds enough water for daily hydration.
December 13, 2025 at 6:25 PM

▶️Inspect every strand of lights for damage and discard any that are frayed or broken.
▶️Only use certified lights and timers. Look for certification marks like CSA, ULC, or ETL.
