If you want to show support to Dr Mark Bray, the Rutgers professor who has been forced to flee U.S. due to threats from right-wing agitators, consider purchasing a copy of the book that made them so uncomfortable, either through the publisher or your local independent bookstore

This week, our colleague Dr. Mark Bray came under attack by Turning Point USA’s Rutgers chapter for his public scholarship. Rutgers AAUP-AFT and the Rutgers Adjunct Faculty Union condemn this campaign and stand in solidarity with our colleagues. Read our full statement here: https://loom.ly/BDXasRY

Dr. Mark Bray, a Rutgers University expert on antifa, was fleeing the U.S. with his family in the wake of death threats that followed President Trump’s push to characterize the movement as a domestic terrorist organization.

“More Than Half of [Affordable Care Act] Marketplace Enrollees Live in Republican Congressional Districts. In reality, it’s 57%.
“At least 10% of the population in all congressional districts in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and South Carolina are enrolled in the ACA Marketplaces.”
Republicans should love Obamacare. Their voters rely on it.
Republicans are waging war on health care—but the people they’re hurting most are their own voters. That’s not hyperbole. “More Than Half of [Affordable Care Act] Marketplace Enrollees ...

ACA open enrollment starts Nov. 1. Rates should have been published in August. Mike Johnson hopes you don’t know that. But my mom is an independent insurance agent. Has been for 20+ years. So she does know that.

Families with teenagers older than 14, or grandparents who retired early to help care for their grandchildren, will suddenly find themselves without food. So will many veterans and the unhoused population. 2.4 million people could lose their food assistance.

One of the most deceptive Republican myths about the shutdown: We don’t need to act on health care right now, because the ACA tax credits don’t expire until 12/31.

FACT: People are already receiving notices that their premiums will skyrocket (by more than 93% in ME on average).

This is a crisis.

I spent more than a decade at The Post. It was good to me and I was proud to work there. I’ve largely refrained from being critical since I left. But this framing of the special counsel probe is embarrassing and flatly wrong. Stunning, but not. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Trump today said he "took freedom of speech away." Two-thirds of Americans (including 2 in 5 Republicans!) were already aware. www.pbump.net/o/even-2-in-...

Despite CNN's official explanation, online debate continued, with many speculating that Miller had said "the quiet part out loud".
In the context in which Miller was speaking, his assertion that Trump has “plenary authority” has potentially significant ramifications.

This is why Trump & Republicans went into the shutdown so confident. They banked on the Democratic Party’s weak reputation and assumed they would cave.

Well that’s not happening. Democrats are on the right side of the healthcare fight, and rank-and-file Dems want this battle because it’s worth it.
