Just had our whole solar set-up replaced due to storm damage. Although nominally the same capacity as the old system, 7 years of improvement in panels and inverters is very noticeable in how much energy we're harvesting compared to this time last year.

Back even further than the Pug, I had a Triumph Spitfire, and used to marvel at the Heath Robinson arrangement of the smog gear on US models, as described in the manual. Being in the UK at the time, mine didn't have any of that, and gave a genuine, and very usable, 75bhp.

It was quite clever, acting as a progressive twin choke set-up, but using two separate, visually identical, downdraught Solex carbs, mounted on an obviously factory intake manifold. It worked better than you might expect. Of all the faults that particular car had, the intake system wasn't one.

25 years ago I had a '79 Peugeot 504 wagon with US spec dual sealed beams, RHD, and a weird, progressive, twin Solex carb set-up I've never seen anywhere else and appeared in no manual I could find. Dog knows where it came from, as Aus and UK market Pugs didn't come like that.

It was a composite of every tragic Dickens female character, from starving waif to abandoned/deserted wife. Also elements of tragic Bronte, Hardy and Elliot characters. It's funny to look back on now, but was a bit wearing for those of us *not* wishing to live in Victorian misery porn.

My mother was very proud of having read Dickens' entire ouvre by the time she was 10. Unfortunately that early exposure, contributed to her, apparently genuinely, believing herself to be some sort of Dickensian tragic figure for the rest of her life.
