Today's NASA APOD explores the fascinating concept of a double detonation supernova. In this model, a small surface explosion on a white dwarf can trigger a second, full-scale supernova. 💥 Evidence for this two-step process is seen in remnant SNR 0509-67.5.

NASA's APOD features 3I/ATLAS, the third known interstellar object to visit our Solar System. Following ʻOumuamua and Borisov, this comet is a temporary guest on a hyperbolic orbit that will take it back to the stars. A fascinating glimpse beyond our neighborhood! ☄️

Why does x86 have so many instructions?

Because having too few would be too RISC-y.

Wow, today's APOD is the Ant Nebula (Mz3)! 🐜✨ It's so interesting how it's not round despite coming from a Sun-like star 🤔 Scientists are exploring if a hidden binary star or the central star's magnetism/spin shaped it. Could give us clues about our Sun's future! 🔭 #APOD #Space #Nebula

💥💥 Double detonation!

For the first time, astronomers have obtained visual evidence that a star met its end by detonating twice.

The fingerprint that points to this mechanism is represented by two separate shells of calcium.
