I decided to play hooky from writing this afternoon and check out a weekday matinee of Wicked. I saw the musical about 15 years ago in Chicago and enjoyed it, so I'm excited to see the movie version.

I'm trying to take joy in the little things. Like my Bonne Maman jam Advent Calendar, which arrived today. One of my favorite breakfasts is coffee with toast & jam, and I can't wait to test out all these jams.

I've waited long enough--today I start my holiday baking! First up is cranberry breakfast bread with an almond glaze. It's one of my favorite recipes, but I only make it in November & December.

Tomorrow, my seventh book will be out in the world, but it never gets any easier. I always spend the day before launch feeling anxious and unsettled, afraid that some last-minute glitch will derail everything (it should come to no surprise that I'm an anxious person in general!).

I already loved John Williams' movie scores but after watching the new documentary about him last night, I have an even greater admiration for his work. I still remember how geeked out I was (at age 12) to own the two-disc LP with the complete soundtrack to the first Star Wars movie.

Penzeys Spices just released an advent calendar! If I wasn't already at my advent calendar limit for the year (Bonne Maman jam calendar + Aldi cheese calendar), I'd definitely consider getting it. (Also, I already have way too many spices).

I'm still not sure how I'm going to cope with the next 4 years now that I'm retired. One of the things I loved about working at Penzeys Spices from 2016-2020 was being able to freely vent about everything that was going on (or laugh about stuff like cofeve) with my boss & coworkers.

Well, it's about time!
