Sunset over the Elk Lake Lodge beach area on the evening of 9/29/25. What a great way to start a photo workshop week! We got up from the dinner table to catch these beautiful sunset colors over the calm waters along the shoreline.

Sunrise colors over the High Peaks from Ampersand yesterday morning (9/17/25). I was up pretty early for the 1 1/2 hour drive to the trailhead, but it sure was worth the drive and early morning hike!

Aurora over Brant Lake this evening. This was during the peak of the KP7 aurora, taken at 10:52 PM on 9/14/25. I noted an unusual aurora cloud that traversed the sky above the shafts 3 or 4 times during the peak of the aurora. What a beautiful sight and easily visible by eye.

Goldfish in a puddle on the summit of Noonmark. Just after we got to the summit and I was setting up cameras, Annaleigh came over to me and told me she found goldfish in a puddle... I just had to get a photo of them before heading back down! (I didn't say they were swimming... lol)

Here's a much wilder overview of the Lake George watershed than the view from above the Beach Road. This view from above Jabe Pond near Hague, looks into the Silver Bay / Huletts Landing / Black Mountain area of Lake George. carlheilman.com
